Vehicle Detail

Gorgeous 1979 Lincoln Mark V Bill Blass Edition up for auction with NO RESERVE, bid early and often! Rare Bill Blass edition with full vinyl roof and huge "astro-roof" moonroof, rare option on the Bill Blass Edition Mark 5. 1979 is the last year for the big body Mark 5. 82k original miles, 400 V8. I'm the second owner, purchased from an older woman in Connecticut who was selling her deceased husband's collection of classic cars. The Mark has always been garaged. All options including "miles-to-empty" digital readout, power quarter windows, remote trunk release and automatic dimming headlights. The Cartier clock still works! Recent mechanical work over the last couple of years includes new master cylinder and new brakes all around, new brake hoses, new radiator and hoses, new muffler, full tuneup and water pump. The most expensive mechanical work I've done is having the steering column rebuilt. About a year ago the shifter wouldn't move (not uncommon these era Lincolns) and my mechanic had to have the column sent out and rebuilt, $1200 in parts and labor. The shop replaced all the moving parts inside the column including the tilt and shifter mechanisms, turn signal components, etc, as well as repainting the column, very nice work. New front end parts include new KYB shocks and tie rods, she cruises straight as an arrow. I purchased a new a/c compressor and receiver/dryer but have not had the chance to put them in. The parts alone cost over $600, included with the car, still in the boxes as seen in the trunk pix. The power steering has a small leak from the hose, I just add fluid when necessary. The Mark still has the original spare tire (with carpeted cover) and inflator as well as the full carpeting set in the trunk, looks like new. Interior has been reupholstered, we did the front and rear seats as well as the dash. The interior work is very nice, white piping accenting the blue and the seats got new padding as well, very comfortable and easy to slide in and out of. Both seat motors work properly in all directions. The radio lights up and the "stereo" light turns on when tuning the FM and you can hear the 8-track motor turn on when you put a tape in but the speakers may need replacing, I was told that these old Ford factory radios last forever. I am including a "Sonny and Cher" 8 track so you can hear the mechanism working. The power antenna works, moves up and down with the factory switch under the radio. The headlight doors work properly and stay closed when the car is parked. The moonroof works perfectly, doesn't leak even in heavy rainstorms and has the sliding shade that can be closed as well. The Mark 5 has been a "garage queen" so the body is in excellent condition, very straight with no rust anywhere and the underside (floors, frame and trunk) is solid and clean as well, almost spotless underneath. The paint is original but still shines up well. Engine starts easily, cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road effortlessly with no wandering. Runs very strong and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading, the four wheel disc brakes stop on a dime. She idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like an American luxury cruiser should, it has impressive off the line acceleration considering its size. All directional/brake/turn signal/headlights, wipers, cruise control and horn all work. I always get smiles and "thumbs up" when I take the Lincoln out. VIN is 9Y89S632040. Nice classic Lincoln which will only appreciate in value!
