I am the second owner on this SUV, bought it back in 1998. Within the last two years the following have been replaced; New: Radiator, both heads (remanufactured as new), plugs & wires, flex plate (flywheel), heater core, engine & cooling system flushed, tranmission flushed, checked and new fluids, alternator and new windshield. Within the last three years the following have been replaced; new fuel pump and new tires (much like new now). Interior (all leather) is about 90% nice, front seats show some wear-no tears. This Eddie Bauer starts good, feels strong going down the road when stepping on the gas pedal but does have some issues. Brakes are good and all the proper maintenance, such as oil change, etc. have been done over the years. No dings or dents anywhere. There are a few little scratches, two or three. The issues I am having with this is that the engine, upon start up, makes a noise I am unfamiliar with and there is something not right about the motor at idle. I am not a mechanic and I have invested all of the above and do not feel like putting anything else into it at this point. This was my wife's daily driver and now I have bought a new one for her because I don't thrust this one anymore to get her back and forth to work safely. If nothing else, if you already own an Explorer, this would be a Great parts car - the wheels alone are worth $500.00! Or if you wanted to do something custom, this is the one!
