Vehicle Detail
1930 Studebaker. To the best of my knowledge and understanding, its the same car as a 1930 Erskine (separate brand made by Studebaker) which was the last year Studebaker made the car as both a Studebaker and an Erskine, the difference being the hood ornament, hub caps, etc.Its a Four door, and fairly roomy for the time. Neat unique features, back doors are suicide doors, back seat area has original foot rest bar, etc. The car starts right up and drives extremely well for its age. We have driven it as far as 50 mile round trips year with no problems. The car is remarkably original. As far as we can tell, the car appears to be over 95% original and still driving great. The only apparent certain changes from original condition are: The original exterior surface of the roof would probably have been a tar/painted canvas, it is now covered in vinyl. The tires are clearly not 82 years old.The water pump is original, but has been modified to use a modern bearing instead of a leather and grease seal.We refinished the wood in the running boards, they were original but weathering. We had the "Studebaker" stenciled and repainted and the boards refinished and sealed. The spark plugs, distributor/cap and wires seem fairly new. There may be other things unoriginal, but I couldnt tell you what they would be. Car was always garage keep as far back as we can tell, at least since the 60's according to the previous owner and confirmed by the condition of the car. The car has some minor imperfections and signs of wear. The paint is chipped in some spots, there is minor surface rust on some of the chrome, the upholstery has some minor wear, particularly in the drivers seat, but nothing too serious. The car really drives and looks great, we've had it for about 4 years and have driven it around in parades and other events regularly without incident. Please feel Free to call or email with any questions or come out and take a look at the car if you are interested. Bill (301) 980-3094The car is located in Spencerville MD, 20868
