1979 VW Beetle Convertible for auction with NO RESERVE. This beautiful Volkswagen has just 77,900 original miles. 1979 is the vintage last year of the classic bug. It has a good black top that opens, closes and latches with no issues. The headliner is white and in good condition. The interior is tan with no rips or tears in the original seats. It has a dashboard clock, vanity light, old fashioned cassette player and factory air conditioning. The air conditioning currently does not function because the compressor is missing however everything else is intact. There is a black boot that snaps into place and covers the convertible top when it is down. The windows roll up and down and and doors work properly. The body is fairly straight and all the glass is good. The original jack and spare with unused tire is in the trunk along with a lug wrench. The original owners manual is in the glove box. The rear seat folds down for extra storage. The wheels are aftermarket chrome mags. The air-cooled fuel injected 1641cc engine starts up every time and car drives good in all gears including reverse. The clutch and brakes work and the four speed floor gear shift has an aftermarket shifter handle. Besides the wheels and shifter the vehicle is all original. The lights and signals all work. The vehicle runs and drives and has the proper mirrors and all seat belts intact and can therefore be legally driven on public roads. I have a clean clear Tennessee title that comes with the vehicle that will be signed and dated and ready to transfer into the new owners name. A bill of sale will also be provided. I am the third owner however the second owner stored the car and rarely operated it therefore this is virtually a two owner vehicle. The keys are also included as well as a locking gas cap. ISSUES: The tires were recently rotated and the front driver side tire has low tread. There is a hole in the floor pan under the battery that was repaired with sheet metal. The exterior paint is not original and is coming off. The front passenger side hood hinge sticks and has to be pushed inward when closing the hood. There was a minor dent in the front passenger side fender that has been popped out. Although the vehicle does currently run and drive and is fully functional I believe a tune up would improve overall performance. Again this is a NO RESERVE auction which means the highest bidder will own the vehicle for whatever price the auction closes at. I am a motivated seller and will answer all questions to the best of my abilities. This is a wonderful collector car that gets lots of positive attention wherever it goes and is super fun to drive and enjoy. When you drive it makes you feel like a movie star and all heads turn to see. The brilliant yellow color is hard to miss and improves safety. I love this car but am having a baby and need something bigger. At auction close I will expect and would greatly appreciate payment in a timely manner within seventy two hours. The winning bidder can either come and pick up the vehicle, title and keys in Nashville Tennessee and pay cash in person -or- I will accept payment through my pay-pal account. If this is a long distance transaction the buyer must make all arrangements and pay for shipping. I can hold the car up to seven days while awaiting shipper if paid for within the seventy two hour period. I will assist in any feasible manner. If I missed anything I will update the auction per questions and comments from interested parties. On Sep-16-12 at 02:17:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 9-16-12: Interested parties have been asking for pictures of the engine. It seems I forgot to include any in my auction. However I think I have devised a solution. Today I shot some video of the engine then created a movie showing the motor running and other details. The shade of yellow of the car looks different in the video due to the different cameras and video process I guess. It is the same car I promise. I had some fun with it then watched some tutorials on how to embed the video so I do hope this works...
