All right, so it seems I was a little too high .I put this up twice but this time the offers were close but just not enough . I am putting it up one more time at a realistic price . If it does not sell this time my wife told me I can keep it .,So after the next five days the car goes into storage and I will continue to drive it once or twice a year . I dont care either way but if you want it this is the last time on ebay then into storage she goes ...JEFF MY RESRVE IS SET AT 4000$ LAST REDUCTION . This is a 1968 vw bug with a empi mkii package . I have traced the car down and some one way back when put an empi mkii kit on it . I spent a lot of time on this car .I had the wood and the steering wheel restored. I had the transaxel rebuilt and the motor rebuilt to 1776cc with big valve heads from cb.Both have 5000 miles on them .I had the speedo and wiring rebuilt at the same time . I had the original german carb rebushed and reworked for the 1776. I had the original german beam rebuilt from spindle to spindle. New brakes from hard lines to soft lines to the drums. Original empi sprint stars that run true with new tires. The car runs awsome and runs all day long on the freeway with no over heating and no problems .Starts rite up first time and runs like clock work. The sunroof took 6 hours to restore and opens and closes with no problems and does not leak a drop. All the heat and the defroster work. The thermostat flaps are in place . New german muffler with rechromed empi zoomie on the back . This car has a ton of original empi parts such as ,door edge guards,chrome tail light housings,empi rechromed zoomie ,paper air filter kit with empi chrome top and spare air filters for the drop in. Rare steering wheel with correct center button.Just had the wood redone by a wood shop, Empi rear pop outs with chrome covers,Wood dash kit with the wood just redone. Rare empi hood scoop over vent .Rare empi front chrome sway bar .The empi parts alone are worth a small fortune alone and took me a long time to replace them or restore them . New cd player I pod ready in glove box with underhood amp. Also rear deck speakers put in the correct way . Cloth seats from empi but are a latter time period but still sweet to sit on . No rattles or shimmies solid car. There are a few issues . The clear coat by the sunroof does not look great .And someone tried to fix the rear vallance panel and it looks bad .They used bondo on it but it looks like it needs to be redone .This is the only spot of bondo on the car. The rear fender has a small dent in it . This car is a great looker and commands attention were ever it goes . To the point of getting old comming back to the car and having a card stuck on the windshield asking me to sell it . The paint has flaws but still looks great . The california black plates are available to the new owner if you live in california. However they do not come with the car as they are yom plates and belong to me .We can negotiate them as part of the deal . Those alone are worth 500$ by them selves so ask before you hit buy it now. Make me an offer thru ebay system you never know I might take it . I will help your shipping company in any way I can but car does not move till paid in full and any check or other funds clear bank ....Clear California title . A few questions were asked . Yes the bumper over riders are a rare set of empi over riders. The door wood is empi and was redone. The hood scoop is the correct empi hood scoop . Yes the front hood handle guard is an original empi part .The fan guard is also an original empi part . The paper drop in air filter is another rare empi part . It uses the oil bath air cleaner assembly and replaces the inside with a plate and a paper air filter and chrome top that is embossed with the empi logo. It is a rare part but I have 3 spare air filters to go with the car and you can still get the airfilters nos from sellers on the samba . The shifter is an empi unit with an empi wood ball. W ith the redone solex carb and distributer the car averages 25 to 30 mpg depending on how you drive . Yes I am taking offers but only thru the ebay system to protect buyer and seller .Yes the black plates will come with the car but only if you live in california . I dont want them sitting on a shelf .The are hard to get an expensive ,I just would rather them be used by some one who needs them .. The window scrapers inside and out were replaced with wolfsburg west products.If you have never replaced these they are a bitch and take a long time to do correctly .Not for the faint of heart . The door rubber and the hood and rear rubber were also replaced. Vent window rubber and window felt were also replaced, The spare tire is in place and is the same color as the car . The fuel guage works. Shifter bushings in the center tunnel were also replaced. Steering bushings inside car were also replaced. Yes the heater paper vents in the dark holes in front and all underhood venting was replaced.Yes under the rear of car the plastic heater parts that go thru the body were also replaced with new pieces and the tubes from the heater boxes to the body were replaced and the heater boxes are not rusted and are german units .All the cables were replaced with new units .HEATER VENT,THROTTLE, CLUTCH.AND VENT CABLES WERE REPLACED. Shocks are kyb gas adjust in rear and gr2s in the front. The side chrome gravel guards are stainless steel not aluminum and are nos units. Pop outs work as they should ,may need new rubber sometime as I have not replaced them . No leaks just not something that needed to be done yet but they work as they should . The seats are proper for the year and although different empi then the rest of the car they are made and fit to stock tracks without adapters. The door handles and the other wood pieces are empi . I had them redone to match and the door handles rechromed . Rear seat matches front seat .Headliner is unripped but is showing its age . I did not have time to clean it but it is there and in one piece with no rips even the sunroof piece is in place with no rips.The empi badges are not original at least I dont think so . The look like they had prongs on the back of them but they might have broken off I dont know . I just buffed them and carefully repainted the insides and mounted with 3m adheasive tape. All sunroof drain tubes are in place and I spent many hours cleaning them out and they drain perfectly. I hope that helps. This is truly a daily driver and not a trailer queen and you could not duplicate all I have done for the price I am asking . This a smooth driver that will garner you a ton of attention were ever you go ...You will not hide in a crowd in this car .. JEFF
