Vehicle Detail
This is a true time capsule vehicle. The incredible Mercedes W123 chassis 240D with coveted manual transmission. Finished in Maple Yellow exterior with Palomino interior, this car has travelled just 5,000 miles (8048 kilometers) since new. I bought it from the original owner, a lovely older German gentleman just south of Barrie, ON. The car's speedometer and odometer are in kilometers. The original owner bought it, and after immediately getting a company car decided to parked this beauty. He had it undercoated shortly before parking it. I brought it back to Ohio in a closed trailer (it has an Ohio title now) and really just take it to car shows. The car is well known in the Western Reserve section of the Mercedes Club of America. It has won every car show it's been in. The original cosmoline is still visible in the engine bay. The car has the incredibly comfortable orthopedic seats and being a Canadian spec car, does not have wood on the console, just the dashboard. It's a very basic spec car, like you might see in Europe. Crank windows, no sunroof. It's very cool. Everything is original except the tires. I have the original tires if anyone wants them, but at that age they are not safe to travel on. A shame, because they still have the full tread depth. I change the oil every year, regardless of mileage. I've owned it for over 10 years, where it has been in storage except for some occasional exercise to keep things limber, as well as a summer show or two. The only service it has needed is new tires, a changing of the flexible fuel return lines, and regular oil changes. This is not a perfect car, though it's as close as I've ever seen. It is over 30 years old. The cruise is intermittent, the fuel gauge is a little funky and the A/C will probably need a charge. I noticed while taking photos that one of the headlight doors (the clear surround) has a couple of very small crazing marks. That's about it. I am a longtime Mercedes Club member, and am active not only in the club but several online Mercedes forums. I collect older Mercedes, but the time has come for me to thin the herd. This is the finest older Mercedes I have ever seen. Please don't bid unless you intend to buy. A winning bid is a binding contract. I recommend a personal inspection before bidding.
