Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car sight-unseen on ebay about 5 years ago, with the intention of using it as a daily driver while gradually making it as straight as possible. Unfortunately, a lot of information about the car was missing from the sellers ad and once I started poking around I decided this car wasn't a good candidate for restoration. I drove it until I got some air in the brake and clutch lines, then just parked it. That was 3 years ago, so the gas tank will need to be drained to get it running again. Unless you have a dry rolling chassis at a reasonable price for sale, its time for me to sell this project. On the plus side, the engine and transmission are good, the running gear is tight and the brakes (air in line notwithstanding) work well and were fairly new. The interior is from a 318 and is in fair to good condition. All the chrome is present, some a little dinged, all the glass and lenses are okay. There are no cracks in the dash, a new but poorly installed headliner, Weber carb "upgrade", and I have the typical box full of spares including a new water pump and a couple oil filters. The hood is fairly new aftermarket and in pretty good shape. The a/c is present but disconnected. The odometer reads just under 15,000 miles, but whether that is 115k or 215K is anyones guess. On the down side the car had some rust issues that were addressed by a bodyman with more putty than skill. The strut towers are in good shape, but the rear seems to have been repaired... best bodywork on the car. There is some surface rust in the spare tire well, but no holes. The front floorpans have new sheet metal but the old rusted pans weren't removed so I can't tell in the new was welded, glassed, or just placed into position. The area around the windows that is prone to rust is repaired, but lumpy, and the rear of the trunk lid is more bondo than metal. The trim on the rocker panels was glued in place with silicone bathroom caulk, so when they fell off I discovered the rust underneath. All the electrical stuff works except for the blower, but there is a piece of Romex ?!!? leading from the battery to the firewall, I'm afraid to poke around further. I'm offering this car with no reserve. Feel free to call 312.404.0123 with any specific questions. I have tried to be as honest and accurate as I can, any omissions are an oversight and not deliberate. Car is sold with clean and clear title. Bidders are welcome/encouraged to view the car prior to auctions end. Out of state bidders are welcome/encouraged to hire a 3rd party inspection. However, once auction is over and you are the winning bidder the car will be yours. Again, make arrangements prior to auctions end to view/inspect the car. Car is sold as is, where is. Sale of vehicle is Final! This is a private party sale and the car is sold with no warranties expressed or written. Please make sure you have satisfied your expectations of the car. Buyer to pay non refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of auctions end. Balance due within 7 days of end of auction. No exceptions! Buyer responsible for all shipping charges. I will however help load the car on transport truck if needed. Payment to be made using bank wire transfer, bank cashiers check or cash in person.
