Vehicle Detail

This is an exceptional and gorgeous 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 HDTP. This car is a local car bought new at Gerdon Dodge Plymouth Chrysler in Corydon, IN. in 1968. Still have the factory paperwork, sales receipt, original keys on the dealer key ring and original owners manual in glove box along with Chrysler Certicard. I am the 3rd owner of this beautiful car. Prior owners where family until I purchased it. This car is truly a must see and drive to appreciate. Here are the details: Body: * Body is beautiful. NO BONDO! All steel and arrow straight!! Doors, hood and trunk “click” shut with ease. Car was taken completely apart, media blasted and professionally repainted B5 Chrysler blue metallic. Trunk pan and sub frame are rock solid! Front floors on both sides had some minor rust issues but those areas were cut out and new panels were wire welded in place. Any other minor rust issues that the car may have had were cut out and OEM sheet metal replacement panels were installed properly. Car is absolutely stunning. One minor scratch in paint approx. ½” long on drivers fender (see pics). That is it. Bumpers are brand new reproductions, glass is excellent with no milk or chips. All windows roll up and down perfectly. Inside the trunk is perfect! Even the trunk light works. Firewall is perfect! So on. Interior: * Interior is much like the exterior. Correct factory interior in blue. Car was treated to a new OEM carpet within the last 2 years. Seats are factory upholstery and are unrestored. Anyone can have upholstery recovered but original seat upholstery tells the story of the cars life. They do show typical usage and are not 100% perfect. Still VERY nice. Light ware from 46 years of use. Top of back seat has some very minor dry cracks from the sun but no major damage. All interior and exterior lighting work. Even the stock AM radio with FM convertor work. Wipers have NOS blade refills and work great. Fuel gauge works now and then (could be a ground problem). Factory in dash temp gauge not working. There is an aftermarket temp and oil gauge installed under the dash that keep an accurate eye on the essentials. Car runs 180 degrees all day and holds 40-50 PSI oil pressure. Motor/Trans: * Motor is a low mile 1968 date coded 383 4bbl. (2/21/68) (# 2468130 9) . Factory bore and stroke with only the addition of a MoPar Purple cam shaft to give it a healthy lope. Motor is tight and VERY crisp. Has factory (correct) exhaust manifolds as well as intake with 1406 Edelbrock carb. Still running factory breaker point ignition system. Car has manual brakes and manual steering. Transmission has less than 500 miles on it since complete rebuild. 2500 stall torque convertor was installed to give the car some street launch to the 3:23 ratio 8 ¾ rear end. Shifts beautifully. Car does NOT leak any fluids.Car has brand Cooper Cobra new tires on brand new Magnum 500's. 15"X7" w/ 235/60/15's front and 15"X8" w/ 275/60/15's on rear. New brakes too. All new steel brake lines and so on. Stops excellent. The car drives out on the interstate like a Cadillac. Corners excellent! Smooth shifts and smooth ride. Kicks down with muscle. No complaints here. This is truly a must see car. This car was a factory 318 car with column shift 3-speed transmission. Production figures show 2803 total WH23 cars produced with this engine/trans combo. Clutch pedal is still tucked away in the car if you wanted to go back 3 or 4-speed with it. The original steering column was changed with another column from a correct ’68 automatic and done properly. Car is ready to enjoy and show as it sits. Built at the Lynch Road location in Michigan. Only reason we are selling is so I can concrete, insulate and run electricity to my new shop we've just built. Car is always stored inside and under cover. Call if you are local and wish to inspect in person. I encourage it and welcome you anytime. Car will be on display this coming Saturday in St. Anthony, IN. at the annual Fireman's Car Show. Thank you and enjoy. (812)631-9244 On Aug-15-12 at 14:43:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to everyone who has called and emailed about the Coronet. This is an extremely nice muscle car to enjoy as it is without spending any money on it. This is NOT a "Joe Dirt" hot rod with Sky Jacker air shocks, big (fake) plastic hood scoop and a foot print gas pedal. Although I do still love those cars too lol. This is a gentleman's cruiser that will HOOK UP when you need it too. Thanks again. On Aug-17-12 at 20:27:01 PDT, seller added the following information:This car will NOT be relisted. This will be the only time it will be for sale so if for some reason it is not sold, it will remain in my collection. Thanks again to all of the calls and emails. Been nice talking with you.
