Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is a stunning and very well cared for 1977 Mercedes 240D, Sedan, Automatic, Air, Power Locks, Manual Windows, Pastel Grey, Black MB Tex Seats, MB Aluminum Wheels, AM/FM, CD with USB port for MP3. This car’s original owner lived in Dallas, TX. He was the only driver of the car and was very particular in the cars care and appearance. His wife then kept the car in their garage and drove it sparingly. She then finally decided to sell the 240D. All this time it was driven and always kept in their garage from 1977 – 2011. It was sold to me in December 2011. I am the second owner of the car. The car was shipped to Iowa where it was kept in my garage until April 2012. I had always wanted to have a diesel Mercedes and this has been my new project for the last 4 months. Since April I have driven as my daily driver and I have put 6,000 miles on the car. Original total mileage on car is just under 144,000 miles. When I checked the mileage I got 27 mpg. I am selling the car because I have too many cars and my garage space is over-full. It is time to let this gem go. Including my purchase price I now have over $10,000 put into this 240D. The condition and appearance of this car is excellent. I have set a reasonable reserve. I am also advertising locally and reserve the right to end the auction early if a local buyer makes an acceptable offer. Engine Compartment Mechanical · Checked compression all cylinders between 325-340 · Does not burn oil · Adjusted valves and new valve cover gasket · Cam lobes look good and don’t show access wear · Timing chain and tensioners look good and chain is good and tight without stretch · New thermostat and gasket installed · Radiator drained with new MB coolant · New upper and lower radiator hoses · New MB short hose · 5 new MB heater hoses · 3 new belts, alternator, Power steering and AC · New pencil style glow plugs installed · New manual glow plug push button with solenoid, hold 5 seconds spring, summer and fall with cold engine, 10 seconds when under 32 degrees, starts immediately after holding. · Engine compartment very clean no leaks · New water pump installed · Rebuilt vacuum pump · 2 new oil cooling hoses to oil cooler reservoir · New small and large fuel filter · Oil changed · All linkages oiled · New air filter · New air filter and valve cover grommets · Just installed July 2012 new AC compressor, AC clutch, Expansion Valve, Evaporator, and R12. Very hot the other day 106 degrees runs very cold good.
