This auction is for a 1978 Super Beetle VW Convertible. It was in great condition until the engine caught fire. I have an "ae" carburated engine for it. I also have a new white top and ash bow for the top which is a $700 value. Transmission and suspension are in good condition. Have a good rear engine deck for it. Tires have 90% tread. Pan is good. This car rode and drove great. The engine fire did damage the interior back seat and scorched the back of the front seat. See pictures. This would be good restoration car or even for parts. I am listing this car for a retired German schoolteacher that specializes in Volkswagens for 40 years or more. He had recently, in the late winter, traded a really sharp VW dune buggy for this car. He had only driven this Super Beetle a short time before it caught fire in his garage. He had to roll it out to put it out! This VW convertible was really sharp before the fire.
