1981 Jetta 2 Door SedanWolfsburg Edition My son has owned this Jetta for about 15-20 years. We bought it from a VW dealer mechanic. It was his personal car. I got it from my son about 5 years ago to build as a fun economy car. My plan was to replace the tired original engine with a 1994 Jetta 2.0. I have the 2.0 engine (46,000 miles) complete with the computer and instrument cluster which can be purchased separately. I've got too many other projects and we need the room, so this has to go. The car is very solid with the exception of the front lower pan in one corner, the rear pan under the bumper and the driver's front fender. I have another clean drivers fender. The trunk lid has some rust on lower edge. The interior is in good shape, even down to the original carpets. I think it's an unusual combination and very sharp. The cloth seats have some stains. The passenger door latch doesn't unlock and the drivers vent window latch needs gluing. Door windows are hard to roll down and probably need disassembly and lubrication. The car drove fine, but the engine started loosing oil pressure and had fuel injection trouble, so we parked it with plans of swapping in the 2.0 engine. Clutch and trans are fine. It had the typical Rabbit/Jetta problem of water getting in the fuse panel. The floor, rockers, trunk and suspension mounts are all solid. We welded in a new floor section and structure on the drivers side which is still very solid. I think it would be an easy restoration and I had planned on painting it 94 Ford truck silver grey which is an almost exact match. I would prefer local pickup. We live on a small private road and it would be very difficult to get a large car hauler in here, plus it doesn't run. Please contact with any questions. Thanks.
