For Sale here today is a nice example of a highly desirable and hard-to-find 1981 VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT PICKUP TRUCK (CADDY) DIESEL which has been mechanically restored to almost like-new condition. This is the deluxe version which is a little more luxuriously appointed, and has a few more creature comforts than the base model vehicle, such as better cabin insulation and sound-deadening,, dual remote external rear-view mirrors etc. This vehicle has undergone a large amount of repairs and upgrades performed by us within the last 500 miles, which are as follows: Fresh rebuilt modern factory VW/Audi 1.6 Liter Diesel Engine installed This includes all NEW/REBUILT Injectors, Glow-Plugs, Gaskets and Seals, Timing Belt/Tensioner, etc. Rebuilt/resealed Injection Pump. Bosch Seals engine/transmission mounts inspected good NEW Fuel, Air, and Oil Filters. Bosch NEW Clutch Assembly. Disk NEW Belts all around. A/C, Alt., Water pump NEW Coolant Hoses,ALL NEW Coolant Reservoir, And Cap NEW Heater Control valve. Controls where removed and cleaned and lubed. NEW Accelerator Cable. NEW Clutch Cable New Door handles, Keyed to trucks ignition NEW rubber fuel lines. NEW Injection return Lines. NEW Shift linkage bushings, Rods rebuilt. NEW Water Pump Assembly including Housing. NEW Thermostate NEWER Battery. NEW Rebuilt Bosch Starter. Rebuilt Steering rack with NEW boots and tie rods. NEW Ball Joints. NEW Control Arm Bushings. NEW Front & Rear Wheel Bearings, races and seals in the rear NEW Rebuilt CV Drive-Shafts. NEW Sachs Front Struts. NEW Front Upper Strut Mounts and Bearings,Bushings NEW Front Brakes Pads,Rebuilt Calipers Turned Rotors. NEW Rear Wheel Hydraulic Cylinders .Rear Brakes shoes, and hard wear kits NEW Master Cylinder.. Solid Rear Window is opening Slider. NEW BOSCH Wiper Blades.. NEW exhaust hangers. NEW Bulbs/fuses/electrical connectors/nuts/bolts/miscellaneous hardware as needed. ****NOTE**** MOST of the parts used in this restoration are genuine VW/Audi items, many of them are OEM, NOS. So, most of you know that genuine parts do NOT come cheap. We use only the best stuff out there, and it all comes at a price! There are no generic Napa/Orilly's/Auto Zone parts used with the exception of maybe a nut or bolt or something extremely minor. So, if you want something nice, this is it! This is an un-molested, The body is fairly nice and straight, the doors shut nice and tight, with the exception of a couple of small dings (two, front right fender, Right side bed low) normal for the age of the vehicle, the tail-gate is pretty strait shuts, door panels are in very nice shape. The seats are clean, comfortable to sit on.(cloth) All lights, instruments and horn work well. The new 1.6 liter Diesel engine is smooth and quiet, and even though it is NOT broken in yet, having less than 500 miles on it since being installed, allows this truck to cruise the Interstate comfortably at 70 MPH . It goes up most hills without having to down-shift and is absolutely a pleasure to drive. ****NOTE**** This Caddy HAS A/C ! retrofitted 134A Vs. R12 This Caddy steers straight,, accelerates and stops well, and goes over bumps nice and quiet. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle, and, with proper maintenance and regular oil changes should last forever. These Rabbit Diesels are famous for longevity, reliability, and practicality, and this one has a lot of life left in it. The body of this Caddy was stripped mechanicals, suspension, engine compartment was steamed cleaned. Even the window regulators were removed, cleaned, lubed and reassembled so the windows go up and down smoothly! Almost everything on this vehicle which in our opinion needed repair or replacement has been discarded and replaced with NEW OEM parts. That includes all the items listed above and maybe a few more items which we might have over-looked. This truck represents excellent value for your money. It looks sharp and runs great, and turns heads everywhere! NOT to mention that Diesel engines get great fuel mileage, at an average between 40-45 MPG, and, if you install a Bio-Diesel or WVO kit, you could be running this fine truck for next to nothing This is well worth it i think, If you have any questions email or call me. 360866-2893 There is so much that has ben done to the truck I Think I am forgetting Something. Transmission was resealed The Whole Under Belly was undercoated with Sealant incase the Truck Go's some where Cold and wet. If It was me the next thing would be a Windshield and Paint.
