There are few vehicles in history that bring as much joy as the 1965 Volkswagen 21 Window Deluxe Microbus, or Samba. With its skylighted windows and near full-length cloth sunroof, it was originally marketed for touring the Alps. Today, every trip in this classic brings wide smiles from the old, jumping cheers from the young, and peace signs from all in between. Patiently restored to excellent condition, this is a reminder of a much simpler time and an outstanding investment for serious collectors! The body of this beauty has a mirror shine in rare Velvet Green and Blue White, a gorgeous combination that was used for less than a year. The interior is a harmonious Mesh Gray, a perfect balance to the exterior. A rare walk thru, all seats have been repainted and recovered, including replacement of the headliner to full working condition and the addition of shoulder belts by a professional installer. All rust repair, which was minimal, was expertly replaced with good solid metal of the highest quality and coated appropriately. The doors and windows have all been fitted with new seals and rubber. Insulation has been added to walls and doors for soundproofing and increased comfort. Very few blemishes exist, but those that remain are documented in accompanying photos. The engine is a 1600cc with an odometer reading of 11,900 but has less than 500 miles since rebuilt to great condition, starting every time. The battery has been converted to 12 volt. Though this is a vehicle one owns for style and not speed, with a Big Nut tranny, it will easily do 65-70mph on the highway. It has new tires with white powder-coated rims and chrome hubcaps to complete the vintage look. With the exception of a few out of market latches, it has been fitted with all NOS parts. Please remember that parts are becoming more and more scarce so as with any classic, care should be exercised.
