Vehicle Detail

This is the real thing. The most collectible "chrome goddess" from Harley Earl's dreamworks of the 50's. There were only 839 of these beauties ever built. Nothing like it will ever be built again. How many are left? The few remaining examples in existence are restored works of art that, when they ever sell, usually bring six figures plus. When is the last time you came across a "fixer upper" 58 Limited convertible. I wanted so bad to be the "white knight" to save this princess. I have owned it for more than a decade and have never started this restoration. It is time to permit someone else to save her. She is number 564 of the 839 Limited convertibles made. Orginally she was white with grey leather interior. The original (in my opinion) nail head is still there. The twin turbine transmission still rests behind the once mighty engine. The dealer installed "trailmaster" spot light, a very rare and collectible option is still there. It does not have air conditioning. The original owner must have believed the cool night wind was sufficient when driving with the top down. The other Limited "standard" options are there, power windows, power seat, and although the pump has gone astray, power steering. I don't believe this car had the disaster suspension system known as Air Poise. If it had it it was removed. I bought this car 10 years plus ago at a storage foreclosure auction that was properly advertised and published. That paperwok is the official record of my ownership. Somewhere a long time ago the original white lacquer was repainted blue. I think that is the only body work done on this car. From its condition I believe it that it had a small accident that damaged the grille, driver's fender and driver's doors and then sat neglected in the weather for a long while. The soft top gradually fell to ruin and the rain attacked the interior and floor. Like so many convertibles that have been out in the weather the interior is a disaster. It will need a new floor and all upholstry remade. With any restoration of such a prized car the engine and transmission will need to be redone. I have no idea of their condition except to say they appear to be original. The frame looks solid. The body will need rockers and patch panels but is certainly restorable. The trunk, as Limited convertible fans know, was extended by the factory. The 58 Limited is the longest production car I know of. This length was achieved through longer quarter panels and a longer trunk than the typical Roadmasters of the time. The convertible trunk had an additional panel welded into its' sub-structure. I believe that after sitting for years in the weather the hinges had set up on this car's trunk. Someone tried to force open the trunk and cracked the weld on this extension. The skin and the extension is repairable in my opinion. This rare part can be salvaged. There is some trim that is missing but most of the exclusive Limited stuff is there. It all needs to be polished and rechromed. Who will rescue this damsel and bring her back to her greatest days. A $500 deposit via Paypal is required within 48 hours. Balance will have to be paid in cash or by specific agreement. This car will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared. There is no warranty expressed or implied. What you see is what you get. The vehicle is in central Wisconsin. Seller will cooperate with transportation but no seller transport is available. The winning bidder will have to pick the car up or arrange for same at sellers property in Wisconsin. All transport expense is to be borne by the buyer. The other vehicles shown in the photos are not for sale.
