Vehicle Detail
I love this car, but its time for us to part. After 5+ years in northern CA, I have moved to NJ and this awesome car is relegated to commuter status. If you know EVOs, then you know they are not the best commuter cars. They are, however, the most amazing enthusiasts car, tuner car, track car, or just blast around and have fun car. I just had the car serviced (timing belts and more) at a Mitsu dealer and the dealer offered me $18K on the spot, which is why I am starting the listing at $18K with no further "reserve". Obviously dealers offer lower prices than private party but it gives me a floor to work with. With all the extra goodies, second set of wheels/tires and great condition, I think this EVO is a great deal at well above $18K and the right buyer will agree. This EVO was bought by a family man who has treated it well through its life. Mostly mellow driving interspersed with track days, where I am a "B group" driver - no competition, just good fun. My approach to tuning the car means that it won't deteriorate prematurely, and still has a good life ahead of it for its next owner. Other EVOs I have seen listed on eBay that have been heavily modded may have a lot of $$$ dumped into them, but they are bound to be a nightmare to own because they have been pushed too hard. Here are the mods on this EVO: MotorApexi GT Spec Exhaust (w/optional silencer)WORKS Exhale 76mm Downpipe (Ceramic coated)WORKS High-flow air filterWORKS Brain Flash P2R (w/boost hose assembly)DrivetrainExedy Stage 1 clutch and Pressure plate (NEW! My original plan, had I stayed in CA, was to do a couple of additional mods (Forced Performance Green Turbo, Cams, Coilovers...) which would transform this awesome car into a monster on the street and on the track while still keeping it reasonable. A more agressive buyer could use this EVO as a solid start to their insane tuning dreams, as many have been known to get EVO 9s up to 500+hp. I purchased the SE rather than the MR with this in mind, as the SE has all the important goodies from the MR but retains the bulletproof 5sp manual, whereas the MR's 6sp has been known to be fragile. With the timing belts done (typically at 60K miles) and brand new rotors, pads, and transfer case, this car has already dealt with most of the usual traps of buying a 50K+ miles used car. Also - this EVO has a gorgeous, perfect front bumper, as it was just replaced in March of 2012 (see vehicle history below) VEHICLE HISTORY This car has never been in a serious accident. There are two minor incidents of note that I describe for full disclosure and because they explain the brand new bumper and transfer case. 1) When I moved to NJ, the moving company that transported the EVO mistakenly towed it on 4 wheels during one of the local legs. This damages the transfer case on any car like this, so they paid to have the transfer case replaced with a new OEM part. The upshot to this is that the transfer case is brand new and no other damage was done to the car. 2) In its first winter in NJ (March of this year), I slid a bit on black ice getting off the highway on a slow exit, binged the driver side front rim on a small curb and scraped the front bumper. The upside for this minor fracas was that my front bumper (including lower valance) are brand new and beautiful. That rim was also replaced, along with the strut. SOME OTHER NOTES 1) The rear bumper has various scratches and dings from city living. I included detailed photos on flickr so you can see for yourself and not be surprised. 2) The passenger side mirror has the paint scraped off at the end as a result of cutting it too close in my SF garage to many times. This is purely cosmetic and I have never had a repaint estimated. There is a picture of this in the flickr set. 3) I installed 6" infinity speakers in the rear deck hoping to improve low end bass response from the JL Audio speakers I had in there before. That was a mistake. The infinity speakers are not as good as the JL Audio speakers. I haven't gotten around to swapping the JLs back in but I have them and will include them with the purchase. 4) I intended to wire up a subwoofer so I purchased the OEM subwoofer enclosure but never got around to amping it and wiring it to the head unit. The enclosure is in the car, and you can choose to wire it up or take it out. QUESTIONS? I am happy to answer any questions and provide additional color and I intend to share any question with everyone on the listing.
