Vehicle Detail

Up for auction from StudebakerCentral is a very nice 1962 Champ 1/2 ton pickup. This truck belongs to my son. He drove it as daily transport until last summer when he decided to go with a new Chevy truck. What can I say. This is a 259 with a four barrel and custom dual exhaust. Most Champs have single exhaust with a crossover pipe. This one is dual all the way with both mufflers on the passenger side since the gas tank uses up the driver's side. It is an automatic and runs and drives really well. It has original power assisted drums. The truck was originally orange and the dash and engine compartment are still that color. The repaint on the outside is about ten years old and has your normal scratches here and there since it is a truck and has been used consistently as a truck. The Champ is pretty solid. There is no rust on the floors or the frame but I do see some rust coming through on the driver's side rocker, maybe about three inches long. The interior is good. The seat was replaced with a bench that looks like it is from a modern pickup but it fits the truck well and is comfortable. I believe that the headliner was replaced. The rest is original. Connecticut does not title cars that are more than 25 years old. I would drive this truck anywhere. I might take it out to the International Studebaker meet in South Bend next month if it doesn't sell but I have my own Champ and would rather show up in that one so bid now and take home a great driveable classic. On Jul-22-12 at 10:21:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Late Bulletin: There have been a lot of questions. Thank you. The Champ does have its original TT (twin traction) rear axle and it sits on original 16 inch rims. It has its proper hubcaps which are shiny and it does have beauty rings. People have asked about rust so I just took some pictures of the underneath and added them. I want everyone to know that I did find a weak spot on the passenger side floor and you can see it in picture #18. The other pictures of the underneath show the truck to be otherwise solid. The little boy is my grandson. He does not go with the truck. Still a bargain at its low price but bid accordingly and thank you.
