Vehicle Detail
Listing my Immaculate1976 Porsche 911S Targa at NO RESERVE. I've owned this 911 for 11 years and oversaw the extensive restoration including professional bare metal (panels/glass removed) re-paint in guards red and installation of a freshened Euro Spec 3.0L Engine along with all proper upgrades as detailed below. The Car has just over 100K miles and less than 300 miles since the completion of the restoration in 2009. Has not seen rain. All documentation/invoices/receipts are included with the sale. Total investment well exceeds $30,000 as evidenced by the included documentation. While not a concours show winner, this classic example is one of the nicest driveable examples of a mid year targa you're likely to see given the attention to detail spent on the high quality restoration and upgrades provided during my ownership. Body: I purchased this 911 Targa in 2001 locally due, in part, to its solid, rust free pan/floor and body. With exception of rust appearing at a couple spots on the lower right fender and at the base of the rear window, this was a near perfect restoration candidate. All panels, bumpers, glass were removed along with the seals and gaskets. A donor, rust free front fender was installed. All other panels are original. Paint was completely stripped, panels straightened, primed and base/clear coated with DuPont products. All work completed by Keeler's Auto Body in Allentown, PA. They specialize in Corvette and Porsche restoration work and they have award winning show cars to their credit - highly recommend if you live in the region and are looking to have restoration work performed - these guys do not cut corners. All panels, bumpers, glass re-fitted using new seals, gaskets and corresponding hardware. It should be noted (as seen in the pics) that the rear bumperettes were eliminated (holes welded shut) to give it a cleaner look. New badges were also installed. Paint is now 4 years old and looks as good as when it left the body shop - body is dead straight and zero rust. The Targa Top was also rebuilt by a local upholstery shop. Targa roll bar was resprayed a satin black with silver targa script badges. All glass, lenses, and brightwork is in excellent condition. The door handles (finger pulls) have some minor pitting. Wheels: Original 15" Fuchs. Powdercoated Center Spokes and Polished Lip. Newly Mounted 205/60 Kumho Ecsta Platinum All Season Tires (less than 100 miles on set). Aluminum Porsche Logo Valve Stems finish off the look. Interior: Completely redone interior including Black Woven Carpet Kit, Coco Cork Colored Mats to match Seats. Front Original Seats redone and covered in Connoly Leather with white stitching. Rear Seat faces and Inserts dyed to match. Rear Shelf redone and Boston Acoustic Speakers installed. Carrera RS Door Panels. Good Sunvisors. Aluminum 911 Logo Door entry threshold covers, Personal Leather Steering Wheel. Original Dash. Tach, Speedo, Odo, Oil Pressure and Fuel guages, face lighting working properly. Emergency brake is functional. Porsche Short Shifter installed. Pedal Box rebuilt with new, upgraded bushings. Clock is not functioning. Radio Receiver removed but antenna, wiring, rear speakers installed for radio ready if new owner wishes to install one. Seat belts need help retracting. Small hairline crack in dash (see pic). Driver door stay needs replaced (a replacement is to be included with sale). Suspension & Brakes: New Bilstein Shocks Installed front and rear., Turbo Tie Rods, Front and Rear Factory Sway Bars with Urethane Bushings. Cross Drilled Front Rotors, Rebuilt Front and Rear Calipers w/New Pads (less than 500 mi), SS Brake Lines. New Brake Master Cylinder w/Dot 4 Fluid. Engine/DriveTrain: Original 2.7 was replaced at Approximately 101,300 miles with a freshened 3.0L Euro Engine (# 6380640). Itemized Invoice from Specialty Cars (Independent Porsche Specialist) totalling over $10K. New Head Studs, Timing Chains and 930 Tensioners. New Clutch Kit, Fuel Tank Cleaned and Epoxy Sealed, Filters (K&N Air), New SSI Exhaust/Heat Exchangers, Jet Hot Coated Sport (Dansk, I think) Muffler, Tensioner Upgrade, Carrera Front Oil Cooler and Lines. Engine fires up and runs flawlessly. Valves should be adjusted once break in mileage is reached (by 102K). $3,500 Service just completed last summer including new Interstate battery, lifetime hood struts, parking brake repaired, Pennzoil Synthetic oil change, inspection. The car is perfectly sorted and ready for many miles of enthusiastic driving. The gearbox shifts properly with a hint of 2nd gear synchro crunch when cold. The gearbox has Swepco oil and loosens up once warmed...as good as it gets for a 915 box. There is No Reserve as I am ready to part with it. I simply do not seem to find the time to drive and enjoy it so it needs to find an enthusiast who will drive it as it is meant to be proudly driven and not hidden away in a garage all the time. If you are reading this listing then you likely know that nice mid year 911's are finally getting recognized as collectable and their values are appreciating readily. While a local sale is preferrable, I am willing to help coordinate with shipping, if necessary. Clean PA Title in hand. I believe I have represented everything as accurately as possible but please ask questions if there is something I may have left out. As referenced, this is a well sorted, upgraded nice driver that could benefit from a few minor touches (see interior section) but is ready for many trouble free miles. Check my feedback and Bid with confidence.Thanks. The car is also listed for sale locally and seller reserves the right to end the auction early and cancel any bids should the car sell before the auction ends.
