Vehicle Detail
I have recently acquired this car from a family who contacted me about a collection of vehicles that belonged to her father..I purchased several vehicles from them and this is one of them.. I have combed over this car and have found it to be rust free and in near perfect condition on the top and bottom...If you need undercarriage pictures just ask..I can get the car on an alignment rack at my mechanics shop and get specifics pictures for you... This car was gone throughout in 1994 and was completed in 1996...I have photos showing complete disassembly from the tear down to the reassembly of the car..If you need to view pictures in the album let me know I will figure it out..Scan..Email..Text..etc..There are about 30 or more.. The car was actually a goldish beige when it was new but the previous owner wanted to refresh the whole car , Color and all..The current color is a Mercedes color I like to call it a charcoal mineral because it seems to have a little dark green with the dark grey..Its very rich in color and really makes this car with tobbaco colored interior.. The paint quality of this car is perfect, Everything was dissasembled and bagged..Every panel was removed and stripped..The interior was removed and the floor was cleaned and resprayed..The paint is as perfect as you can get, No trash , swirls, runs, nor sort of any imperfection ..Anywhere!..And if I did'nt tell you the car was resprayed you wouldnt ever know...I had some service work done and as they commented on the condition of the car they had a hard time believing this car wasnt originally this color..Even the engine compartment looks as it should..No expense was spared...All exterior chrome and stainless around the doors are excellent.. The interior is flawless..The dash is perfect, It is not a plastic cover it's the original.. And all of the wood is near perfect ...A few of the strips of the wood on the glove box along the dashboard have developed a few hairline cracks but there not too bad...The interior is leather not MB tech or vinyl...I have done push down tests on all of the seats surfaces and these are leather..For those who want to know a simple way to test for leather vs. vinyl..You push with one finger in a section of the seat if the surrounding area around your finger stays smooth without imperfections it's vinyl...Vinyl is man made ..If it's leather you will see little imperfections or veins in the material surrounding the your finger..Leather is organic and has its own unique pattern..Now the door panels and sides of the seats are vinyl..Every bit of chrome is there and in excellent condition .. Also there is absolutely no fading or weather damage anywhere on this car..This includes the carpet which seems brand new throughout the car..The trunk was thoroughly gone throughout as well as the replacement of the cardboardish quarter panel protectors on both side that line the trunk..All factory tools are in the storage area where they belong on the right side bin.. The A/C was still R 12 when I got it but I have since converted it to R 134 this week...We did vacuum down the system and checked for leaks! The A/C blows cold and the controls work as they should!. I did a master cylinder and brake booster this week since i saw a very small bit of seepage out of the booster..The car cranks up as it should ,The transmission shifts very smoothly and it transitions very well when you move the gear selector to put the car in drive, reverse, park etc..Most of these tend to have a clunk in the rear end but mine does'nt...There is 0 play in the steering box and the front end, I have had to replace a few of these over the years i've learned what to pay attention to...This ones great ..Very smooth...Both windows work very well ..They are not slow ..blinkers tail light and fog lights work as they should.. The engine compartment is neat and tidy and clean...With very little seepage if any..I have checked valve covers and all other items under the hood and under the car..Its very clean and well maintained..All of the ball joints, control arm bushing ,stabilizer links, tie rod ends, motor mounts and pretty much anything rubber related have been checked and are in great condition... The tires are Michelins that are a few years old but in like new shape..No flat spots or anything.. Pretty much through 1994 to 1996 the previous owner had the means to bring this car to showroon or better condition and he did..There was nothing at all spared to make this car better than new and it has been kept that way since then..This thing has a painted on pinstripe that matches the interior perfect..Not one detail was overlooked .. The car also has original owners metal stamp plate and original registration from California..Along with all factory owners manuals and warranty information... I am a car dealer but above all a car guy so please feel free to call me anytime...1 843 568 0547 Chris... You can view more pictures at ....SOUTHERNMOTORCOSC.COM This car is NO RESERVE I ship about 4 cars a month for customers and roughly 8 a month for my store..If you need a cost to ship to you I just need your zip code for delivery, and I can get a cost for you from my shippers ....I use Hanover transport.... Christopher S. Salisbury Southern Motor Company Charleston S.C. 29405 If anyone has any questions about my one negative feedback...I sold a woman a 1972 Austin Mini right hand drive for a lower BUY it Now price to fit her budget ...She couldnt use her jeep to come haul it because u-haul deemed the jeep a convertible..I drove the car to her to Orlando which is a 8 hour drive for her for free.(I was going there anyway for vacation with my family)I had no issues with the car and she was happy upon delivery and weeks later...She developed an oil leak and took it to a BMW/Mini (because it said MINI on it she said) store where they charged her $1500.00 to take her motor out and they still did'nt fix the problem...I put her in contact with a British mechanic down there and her problem was a faulty O ring in the sending unit...Cost $60...She was happy but could'nt remove the feed back once it was posted.....My record speaks for itself...Bid confidently.. On Jul-13-12 at 06:02:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received many phone calls and emails about the hard top...The hardtop comes with car. It is in a few photos and then it was removed for the rest of the photos..The top is in excellent condition and all of the weatherstripping is in very nice shape.. The weatherstripping on the entire car is just as nice.. For those of you who asked I'm still trying to get undercarriage pics of the car..Sorry for the delay..On Jul-13-12 at 14:20:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Today is July 13th and the car is over at german auto repair waiting for me to throw it on an alignment so i can get pictures for everyone..I have been at the sale for the last day and just got back..They won't be back until mon morning so I can't get photos til then.. I have tons of restoration photos if people want some of those I can handle that.. The undercarriage for what it's worth is as nice as you'd would expect it to be based on the topside condition...On Jul-14-12 at 07:13:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received numerous questions about why was the car repainted...Or was it wrecked...The car was never wrecked ,The previous owner could'nt find this color combination so he found a car with the correct interior color and the lowest mileage possible,,, I have taken pictures of some of the photos from the album so if you go into my website you can see them there..I've already loaded up the max pictures onto ebay...The photos show the car in original color and condition..I have plenty of other photos from the album so if need something specific i will see if i have it..Chris. southernmotorcosc.comOn Jul-15-12 at 09:32:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Folks I've done my best to get the color code for this car the camera for matching paint continues to call it black yet it created me a pint of a perfect color match of paint for the next owner...Its a perfect match for if someone needs touch or to ever shoot a panel..IThe mixture of pigment ratios is on the can in case you want to make more in the future... The best way I can describe the color is a very very dark grey with a hint of green tint..people say well it looks black at night ..Heck a blue car looks black at night so does a grey car..Just know this car is'nt black I'm not color blind but it is one of the the four colors I found on a mercedes color chart from 1971 to 1974..The tint of green is very subtle but can be seen in most lighting ..I have received an enormous amount of questions regarding the color so I figured I would try again to describe..As always feel free to call if you have questions..ChrisOn Jul-16-12 at 05:36:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received plenty of questions about the paint quality and condition...How does it look, can you tell it was painted, hows the finish etc.. I will try and explain in more depth.. Unless you are one of the best judges in the world at Pebble Beach (and even then good luck finding something ) you might be able to find some leftover gold paint..The door from I can see were painted on the inside...You know where the glass slides down...All of the inside of the quarter panels were finished of in a factory colored greyish matte color..All of the rubber moulding were removed and replaced..Even the wiper washer sprayers have refreshed rubber under them..No one unless you tell them will ever know! Hope this helps..ChrisOn Jul-16-12 at 17:54:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey folks! just got some undercarriage photos at SOUTHERNMOTORCOSC.COM The car actually looks much better in person,The flash really highlighted any surface rust and dirt..I think the car looks great for it's age..I got real nice shots of the floor pans on both sides as well,There is'nt any rust of any sort..the side photos are of the rocker panels which are prone to rust.. This will be my last post,I have done my best to answer all questions and get the best pictures available (good or bad) .The car really is in amazing shape and hopefully will make someone very happy.. Phone calls are welcome as well as emails...Chris...1 843 568 0547..
