Vehicle Detail
1971 Torino GT convertible, Red (original color) with black bench seat interior, 351C 2V, C4 automatic, power steering, power disc brakes and power top. Originally had hidden headlights (now gone) and laser stripes which I have but still need to be installed. Very rare, only 1,613 convertibles made in 1971.. I just bought this car about 6 months ago after looking for a couple years but I just came across and bought an original N code 429 convert so this one has to go. I was planning on keeping it for a long time so while I have not finshed it, the work I have done was done with no expense spared. Very solid body with no visible rust. Floors, torque boxes, frame rails, trunk, cowl and rockers are all original and look good. No visible bubbles. There were patches put in the rear quarters at one time. They did a decent job but not show quality. Paint is basecoat/clearcoat and is a few years old but it has not really been driven since it was painted. Paint is driver quality and looks presentable but is not a show quality job. There are a couple minor spots where bodywork is not perfect but I am picky. I did start to wetsand and buff it and it makes a huge difference. You can drive it as is, it is shiny and everyone that sees it loves it. I wanted to finish wetsanding before I installed the laser stripes. Bumpers are nice with very good chrome. Windshield was just replaced. Top is in very good shape. Overall it is very presentable and would make a great no guilt driver. 15x8 Magnums look nice but do have a couple very small rust spots starting. Interior is nice with good seats, carpet and dash. Door panels are original and show some wear but look decent. No radio. All lights etc work.Needs heater motor and a new one is included but not installed. 351C 2V engine is all stock except for Edelbrock Performer intake/carb. Seems like a good motor but it could probably use a tuneup. C4 trans works fine. Has dual exhaust that is functional but looks a little old. I just finished rebuilding the entire suspension, steering and disc brakes. No expense was spared and I replaced every piece that can be replaced including stainless steel brake lines, hoses, control arms, KYB shocks, spring perches, 1 1/8" sway bar, Moog inner/outer tie rods and sleeves, idler arm, rebuilt control valve, calipers, bearings etc. I also installed an original low mileage steering box I had. It still needs an alignment but the steering is tight and the car should drive better than when it was new. I also lowered it about 1 1/2" in the front to give it a better stance. With an alignment, a simple tuneup and maybe a couple minor things this car is ready to drive. There are lots of little things that still need to be finished but most of them can be done as you drive it. Things like weatherstripping, cleaning up overspray in the door jambs. heater motor, wetsand/buff etc. It also needs the thin rocker trim that goes above the wide ribbed aluminum rocker panels. I do not have these. Overall this is a rare and very solid car in the best factory color, Red. It is a good looking driver and can be driven and enjoyed while you continue work on it. I intended to drive is while I continued to make improvements and eventually have a better paint job on it to bring it to the level of a $20k+ car. Car is sold as is/where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment. $500 deposit due within 3 days and full payment within 7 days of auction end. Car must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. I have done my best to describe the vehicle but please understand it is 40+ years old and needs work.
