Vehicle Detail

This is a nice little find. 60,000 original mile 1974 Mercury Comet 4-door in really good condition. It has the 200 cubic inch inline 6-cyl with the 3-speed manual transmission. This car starts, drives, and cruises perfectly. Everything works. It's basically like any new car with 60,000 miles. It's all original, and ready to drive. Jump in and drive across country if you want to! The good: the interior is in fantastic shape, and a nice aftermarket stereo has been added for killer tunes. The paint is original but still in decent shape. The windshield is brand new. The car drives smooth and straight. Everything works, there is very little if any rust, and it's never been wrecked. The body is really nice, and even though the paint is original, it ain't bad. The car is one of those, it's so ugly it's cute kind of cars. Really grows on you. The bad: there is an exhaust leak between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe. I was about to replace the entire exhaust with an entirely new echaust system, so I never fixed it. But it's a pretty simple fix, just needs a new gasket. There is a little rust on the driver side rear frame rail that will need welded up if you want to. It drives fine, just calling out the "opportunity areas" :). There were some scratches on the car and the previous owner painted over them with paint that doesn't quite match. Which to me, just adds character. Otherwise the thing is ship shape. A little history: This is a 3-owner car. The proverbial little old lady owned it from new in 1974 and put only 45,000 miles on it in 35 years. She died and left the car to her church, which sold it at an auction for $1600 to a college student. That student drove it for 2 years putting another 15K miles on it and posted it for sale in the parking lot of the grocery store he worked in. That's when I bought it for $1600 and put the new windshield in it. I have owned it for less than a year and have put less than 1000 miles on it. Comes with new rear springs and spring shackles, new shocks, and a bunch of spare parts that all came with the car when I bought it. Pretty sweet ride actually, hate to see it go, but I recently got divorced and now I HAVE to sell it because of the divorce agreement. Would love to get $1600 for it. And for a "classic" driver with 60K miles that requires very little and runs and drives great? I think that's a sweet deal. Happy to answer any questions for you!
