Beautiful Classic, White 1966 Mercedes 230 SL, Red interior- for sale by owner.Removable hardtop, black softop. Purchased from individual in California in 1995 and garage kept. Mileage at purchase 35,146. Todays mileage 38,351. Runs great. No engine smoke or oil use or leaks. Non original engine but excellent-purrs, no smoke, no leaks. Runs and looks great. Recently shifting linkage rebuilt. Tires good-excellent. Sale includes Hardtop, Hardtop pulley lift, and cover. Car has spare and tire cover, some of the original tool kit, original year owners manual, repair and part books, and rear seat luggage straps Many comments and head turns galore whenever driving. Drives smooth, straight, and no wobbling. Chrome in good to excellent condition. Soft top-no tears and good to excellent condition. Only minor flaws which I will list below. No rust in carriage, trunk, or floors. Excellent full restoration potential at very little cost or store or drive at will and continue to let appreciate in value.. If I keep, I would have new paint job and re-upholster seats. Needs very litlle else. Selling because just bought second home and started another business. Have always said I would never sell-but circumstances in life change.I consider this car as average retail as described below. The interior would be in excellent condition. Note: This value does not represent a "100 Point" or "# 1" vehicle I am listing all the flaws that I know. Fan belt squeeks for a minute or so until car warms up. Speedometer cable "whines" but seems to quit after driving for a while. Clock does not work. Stereo is not original and works fine. Electric windows nice but not stock.Front seats faded to slightly red/orange. Drivers seat- plastic at corner of seat upholster exposed slightly. Leather decorative cover on section covering soft top pulled loose and needs to be replaced. . Stick shift boot needs reglued or restapled. Touch up paint areas visibible on certain area of car. Scratch on right side through paint that was done at local repair shop. Few areas of mild paint peeling under lower rear panels. Leather steering wheel has a few stiches out -about 1/2 an inch distance. No rust or "little if any" on floor panels, body and undercarriage. No fluid leaks that aware of. Most flaw areas listed are shown in following pictures. I have done my very best in describing this classic car and will be selling car "as is". Willing to ship nationwide via carrier.
