Hi, what you are looking at / bidding on is a really cool 1971 Opel gt it is a four cylinder four speed car This is a PROJECT CAR is is not currently running! I last drove it a few months ago and it developed a "miss" in the engine and then it slowly started loosing power until it stopped running all together. I have a book of documentation from the previos owner containing recipts for work done over the years and all of the specs from the last engine rebuild including tolerances etc. I believe the bottom of this engine is still good. did not smoke and had plenty of power until I think the camshaft went bad. it will need a new distributor and wires. The transmission and clutch work good. brakes work. This is a very fun car to drive and it gets attention everywhere I take it. These opels are famous for extremely good handling in the curves. Please bid on this car with the idea that at least the head or maybe the engine needs rebuilt and it also will need some body work as some spots of rust are starting to bubble thru on one of the front fenders under the bumper. The exhaust is crappy too. This is a forty year old car it has small dings and scratches and scuffs. There is also two small dents where a shop light fell in the garage and hit it (Please see pics) the pictures make this car look better than it is upon close inspection. it really needs a restoration, or you could just fix and drive as is but You wont be doing any car shows with it until it gets a resto. the wheels are opel ralley rims with old tires on them so it can be moved around. Inside the car it has black seats and trim the dash has some kind if carpet someone stuck on it (not a good job) it will need redone. the speedo and tach works as do most of the guages. I dont remember any not working. someone cut out the metal around the air vents on the insid sides just in front of the doors.( see pics) this should be an easy fix just weld on some cover plates. The floor pans are solid and there is not much rust on the car at all. over all very solid. even the belly pan where the battery goes is descent. If I were keeping this car I would drop a small block v8 or a hot v6 down in it and make a really fast street car. it has a lot of potential.
