Vehicle Detail

Just in time for the summer! I'm going out of the country and will sell this instead of putting it in storage, great opportunity to pick up a classic original BMW E30 325i Convertible in great mechanical and cosmetic condition! Here are some highlights of this beautiful car's condition:California car all of it's life, I am the third owner. No rust or accidents. Not even a little.Everything works. Everything. Power windows, power locks, original radio, trip computer, etc. etc. Well one exception, the power antennae is inoperative, see below.Original paint is shiny but the hood needs a wet sand and new clear coat spray. That's my fault, I was doing some paint touch up and decided to put new clear coat on the hood. It looks fine at ten feet or so but you will want to take care of it in order for the hood to be up to the rest of this beautiful car. Original base coat is great and the rest of the clear coat shiny.Body is straight everywhere. There are a few minor dings of course... but it's beautiful, just the way it looks in the pics!Includes nearly all service records since 1999. I'm just missing a couple of oil change receipts over the past year. Also includes all manuals and a "not original" service book (just not from this car).New timing belt, water pump, all water hoses and belts along with valve adjustment at 188,000 miles.Engine and Transmission perform like new. No leaks. No smoke. In fact the car drives like new. It uses less than a quart of oil per 3,000 miles. Compression is strong on all six cylinders. 0-60 is a little more than 7 seconds, actually a little quicker than new. It gets 27MPG on the highway.New alternator and battery.New cross drilled and slotted rotors with new ceramic pads.Reasonably new convertible top, also exhaust.Includes car cover and tire chains.Includes four nearly new plush replacement floor mats from Bavarian Auto. OK there are a couple of things that are not perfect, here's what I can think of right now:The power antenna does not work, it needs to be replaced. As a result the radio is not receiving but it does work. I just use my smart phone and a cassette adapter to listen to sounds ;-). The original stereo sounds great by the way!The interior is not perfect. It looks good, as shown. The back seat is original so the vinyl is very hard and the seam came loose in the center. It's an easy repair. I purchased re-conditioned front seats and they are comfortable and work fine... center section is leather and original, so very hard, with the bolsters in soft vinyl. They were black. I used dupli-color dye to cover all of the seats plus door panels and it looks great, but needs a touch up every now and then. There is a full can of spray with the car.The four tires do not match although the car drives fine with no pull, shimmy etc. Tires are at approx. 50% tread. The LCD display in the trip computer is starting to fail slowly, the display is still legible but orange is showing at the bottom of the display. The dash is cracked and has a dash cap on it... but the dash cap is not secured and warped a little. It's OK but you might want to buy a new one and install it properly!Change oil light is on on the service indicator. If you know the E30 you will know that is a timed function and is re-set only by a BMW dealer, which no one uses for oil changes when we have to pay for them!! There are service light reset jigs you can buy here, another popular fix is to put electrical tape over it!The "coolant" light comes on, indicating a faulty sensor in the overflow tank. Again I've not bothered to rapair it, the coolant level is not low.Original windshield (!) in pretty good shape. It has very minor pitting, not annoying, with two small chips and a slightly discolored circle around the rearview mirror mount where I sanded off old adhesive when the mirror came loose. The glove box lock does not work properly, needs to be replaced. It's locked, I have not been able to open it, and the passenger side sun visor is missing one of its two securing bolts so it's a little bit loose. One more tidbit. The car was with it's original owner for approximately 20 years and always serviced (after warranty that is) by A&E Automotive in San Carlos. The receipts I have start only in 1999, the ones prior are missing... but all are the same up through 2010. Owner number two had the car for not quite one year and me for a year. Ask any questions and good luck bidding on the car. No disappointments and no surprises!
