One of the most desirable diesels in MB history! This car was my daily driver for several years. The engine starts up every time instantly and runs as if it were new and has a very smooth idle for an OM617, has plenty of power, and offers great fuel mileage. The 300D W123 Series Turbo Diesel. This was the last year that MB built the OM617 5 cylinder engine with a cast iron head. Don't risk the newer 6 cylinder diesel with the aluminum head as they are prone to cracking! Automatic Transmission shifts flawlessly! This car runs and drives like it did when new. The engine and chassis is tight and runs/drives absolutely great. Have no fears about the mileage. The suspension still provides a great ride - much softer than many newer cars. I really don't want to part with this one but my needs have changed and I don't need a fourth vehicle at this time. These Mercedes Diesel cars typically average close to 30 MPG… depending on how you drive and they can be easily converted to run on Bio-diesel, SVO (straight vegetable oil) or WVO (waste vegetable oil) or any blend of the above so you don't have to worry about fuel prices any longer. I have a huge stack of original service receipts dating back 19 years (from 1991 - Up). Take a look at the pictures. I have owned the car since December 2004 and I have had a lot of work performed on it (almost all of it by a professional Mercedes mechanic) and have the receipts to prove it. Summary of major maintenance / upgrades while in my possession: New Windshield! (orig. had a major stone chip) New Tires all corners! New AM/FM CD removable face radio, speakers and complete audio rewire New Brakes F&R incl. master cylinder, all new calipers, pads & turn rotors New 60 month battery (4/2/10) New power antenna New left rear CV joint boot New water pump & thermostat New hood insulation pad (nice!) New heater blower motor New ignition switch New injector fuel return line hoses New steering idler arm New glow plugs & timer relay New power roof switch Complete 4 wheel alignment on a Mercedes alignment rack Lower radiator hose block heater Exhaust Resonator an tailpipe Cruise Control Amplifier upgraded and rebuilt by General Development Laboratories and the Actuator was cleaned & lubricated. I changed oil & filter on her every 3,500 miles Condition Report: THE GOOD Everything works as it should: Engine shut-off, cruise control, power door locks, power trunk lock & gas fill lock, transmission shifts correctly & smoothly, power sunroof, AM/FM stereo CD, power windows (rears are a little slow), all lights, power steering, power brakes, rear defroster, heater, front defroster, block heater. Vinyl seating areas are in good condition with only minor blush/fade in areas. THE BAD Dash pad is severely cracked from the sun (see photos). I have a new dash cover in a matching color here on eBay (see my other auctions) Rust - As you can see from the photos, rust has started near the wheel well and jacking post areas. There are also a few quarter or slightly larger sized spots on the sides (see photos). There is also rust in the lower valance (under the front bumper). I took as many close-ups as I could. The rest of the car is very firm and sound - structural areas like the floors, trunk floor, etc. Air conditioning does NOT work. A small valve under the hood failed a couple years ago and let all my refrigerant leak out. I never got around to having it fixed so I don't know what's involved. It could be anything from a new compressor to just a recharge. Folks - It’s a “Used Car”. Please understand this before bidding and expect to receive a “Used Car” not a new one. With every used car you may find some faults consistent with its age and usage.
