Vehicle Detail

This 911 is truly a barn find. The car's owner is a retired Army officer. After retiring from the military, he bought a farmhouse in Illinois. He soon found that all of his spare time was spent restoring the house and maintaining the property so he decided to store the 911 in a barn on the property with the intention of restoring it at when he had more time. After 20 or so years he came to the conclusion that he was never going to restore the car and he asked me to help him sell the car. Although the car's condition hasn't improved with time, I believe that the car is solid enough to merit restoration. The rare special order color, Champagne Yellow, also argues in favor of a restoration. I have listed my observations after inspecting the car but there is no representation that it is a complete list of the problems one might find when undertaking a restoration. If you are thinking of purchasing the car for restoration, please inspect it yourself or send someone who is competent to determine the practicality of restoring the car. Otherwise purchase it as a parts car which has numerous usable original parts. Please contact me with questions. The car is being sold as is with no warranties implied. The floor pan seems to be solid, the right rocker under the door will have to be replaced, the rear lower part of the front fenders will need to be repaired, the front pan and battery box in the trunk will need to be replaced, the left rear bumper will need to be replaced, there are some holes in the bottom of the smugglers box, the heat exchangers and muffler will have to be replaced, the front bumper doe not have any holes but does have some heavy rust on the right side. I do not represent this as a complete listing of all the problems which you might find on starting a restoration. On the plus side, the engine is free and can be turned over. The car is very original. Only the hood and front fenders were repainted This was apparently done to repair rock chips. The car does not appear to have ever been wrecked. The engine and transmission are believed to be the original. engine #328121 On Jun-18-12 at 05:37:28 PDT, seller added the following information: The complete engine number is 3281213. The engine type is 901/14, a 911L? The paint code is 16153-L which corresponds to Champagne Yellow.
