Early 1967 Cougar A-Code Up for sale is a very nice early production 1967 Cougar with 86,000 original miles. It was one of the first Cougars built in October 1966. It came from the factory with a washer fluid bag, where as 99% of Cougars came equipped with a washer fluid bottle. This Cougar was ordered with the optional A-Code 289 4-Barrel V8 high-compression engine requiring premium fuel. It has it's original engine, transmission and rear axle. The body and undercarriage on this car is excellent. The car was 99% stock/original from 1967 to 2005. In 2005 the car was professionally repainted. All the trim and seals were removed and the car was stripped to bare metal. It was 99% rust free with all original sheet metal. The original color was a dark gold (Burnt Amber) and was repainted a brighter gold (Firemist Gold). In addition to new paint the car received... The original Autolite 4300 carburetor is included with the car. The carburetor was changed because the Autolite 4300's are notoriously problematic. Reliability and functionality is more important to me than being original. This car has been driven only 1500 miles since ALL the above work was completed. Everything on this car works... the dash lights, wipers, radio, interior lights, gauges, sequential turn signals, turn signal cancel, horn, hideaway headlights, and so on. Being 45 years old and having been driven for those 45 years, it's not a show car and it does has some flaws. The paint has about 10 nicks/chips, the front bumper has some scratches, there are a few dings in the hood, there are imperfections in the trim, the tops of the fender aprons have a couple of blisters and the rear main seal leaves drips on the garage floor after a drive. I would rate the paint a 9 out of 10, the original interior an 8 out of 10, and the chrome/trim a 7 out of 10. It runs beautifully with no smoke, the shifts are firm, it drives straight down the road and rides very tight. The front suspension/steering was inspected this year and all the components were tight. The doors open and close perfectly and shifter is tight with no play. Very nice car and I hate to sell it. I set my price as low as possible for a quick sale.
