Vehicle Detail
this 1971 914 has had many upgrades to the body and power/drive train. The engine is a 1.7 liter with a pair of Solex carbs, but I will include a complete FI system on request. The exhaust system is a very high quality and very quiet performance type, and the transmission has been upgraded to the side shift type. The interior has been upgraded to the later movable passenger seat type, the general condition is good but the radio is junk! The OEM carpet is not stained and looks good, it just has a shadow on it in the pictures. The exterior is the european style with OEM turn signal lenses and blacked out trim with a front spoiler. The front brakes have upgraded to the much larger BMW calipers and the master cylinder has been changed to a 911 type All the rubber brake hoses and many of the metal lines have been replaced, and the unreliable stock seat belts have been upgraded to a four point system. All wheel bearings have been replaced, and all steering and suspension parts are in good shape. The headlights have been upgraded to halogen and the tires have less than 1,000 miles on them. The cars runs and drives great, and gets 35-40 mpg on the highway. It is not a concourse condition show car but it is a nice, clean, reliable and fun to drive car. I bought it about six years ago as a stripped rolling chassis with no instruments so I do not know what the actual milage is though I believe this car has sat for quite a while and it is fairly low milage. The body shell is in good shape with no serious rust or collision history (see the photo of it in bare metal), and the insulation has been doubled to make for a very quiet interior. I hate to sell this car but need the money and have more 914s, as 41 year old foreign sports cars go it is in nice overall shape. I do have a good rear valance that goes with the car but I personally prefer to leave it off. Thanks for looking, always happy to answer questions or send more photos.
