Up for auction is a very clean LOW mileage example of a classic 1997 Mercedes SL convertible. The car was donated to a nationally renowned charitable foundation that I personally support. As a favor to them I occasionally assist with the liquidation of high end donations such as this Mercedes. The auction will start at $999 with NO RESERVE and will sell to the highest bidder. We will not sell the car outside the auction. My disclaimer is as follows. Being a donation there is no history, maintenance records or any information other than what is contained herein. My description provided below is based on my personal observation and a very limited mechanical inspection of the vehicle. I am not a mechanic nor have any body shop experience so my observations are purely an amateur assessment of the condition as I see it. Since the vehicle was donated it is being sold in as is and where is condition. The vehicle starts, engages gears, runs, drives, and sounds perfectly normal. There is no smoke from the tail pipe. In fact it passed the stringent California smog test and is 100% emissions compliant. The vehicle has a mere 45k miles on the odometer and the overall condition is consistent with this low mileage. As you can see from the photos it is in excellent condition considering its vintage. The paint, interior, engine compartment, and overall condition show very little signs of wear and tear. The convertible top is also in very good condition although the plastic rear window does show signs of discoloration and oxidation. The top functions normally – opening and closing with no issue.
