Vehicle Detail

*NEW LOWER RESERVE* 1973 Triumph Spitfire Mk IV convertible. Only 1000 miles since new paint, new interior, new sound system, new tires and brakes (including new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and silicone brake fluid), new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, new u-joints and halfshaft bearings, new muffler, new Weber carburetor and manifold, new fuel pump and pressure regulator, new alternator, new water pump, hoses, and much more. This car looks, runs and drives great with a 1300 cc engine, 4 speed transmission, and “swing spring” independent rear suspension. The stock wheels were sandblasted and repainted, and Dunlop SP40 155/80R13 tires provide factory handling. We replaced wheel bearings and seals, trunnions, ball joints, and tie rods in the front. All axle and wheel bearings, seals and u-joints in the rear have been replaced as well. The engine has the stock point-type Delco distributor rather than the later troublesome Lucas breakerless unit, and the stock wiring connectors have been removed and replaced with crimp-type connectors. The ignition switch has been changed to a heavy-duty type, and a battery shutoff switch installed (concealed). Also includes an Aiwa AM/FM CD player stereo (made by Sony) with two 6.5" speakers mounted in the rear kick panels. The paint is PPG urethane (BMW “Stahlblau”, or steel blue). We replaced the floor pans, quarters and rockers on the way to getting the body ready for paint. The interior and boot are black, and the seats are completely new, including the foam pads. The original dashboards were refinished, and an oil pressure gauge added. Bonnet locks were installed. The top was replaced in 2005, the car lives inside a garage under a car cover, so it's still nice. Workshop manuals and a car cover are included. A general note about Spitfires: The aftermarket parts availability has never been stronger, with several major warehouses in the US, even though production of these cars ended in 1980. These are cars you can keep on the road! Spitifires are also very fuel efficient with an factory advertised fuel economy rating of 35 MPG. We can provide information on sources for parts that we have found over the years. The engine that is in the car now is a 1300cc engine that came out of a '72 Spitfire, the replacement was done by the previous owner. The original 1500 engine (rebuildable) is available. The car is located in the Fayetteville, Arkansas area, but driveable most anywhere.
