For those of you who dont know why this car is special, heres a little history: Mercury ASC McLaren conversions were produced from 1984 through 1986 using the Ford F-body (Capri and Mustang. During this time 842 total units were produced; 552 of which were convertibles, 290 of which were standard coupes, but only 47 EuroCoupes like this one. When Mercury withdrew the Capri from production in 1986, the remaining 28 of 47 units were non-factory assembled by ASC distributors. This 1986 hard top Euro Coupe (#19) was literally the LAST Mercury ASC McLaren (by VIN) assembled at the ASC facility in Livonia, MI., which is what makes this car such a rare and special piece. And, its one of only 7 EuroCoupe hard tops in the U.S. ASC McLaren registry. It has 114,000 miles on it but drives, runs, and shows like it only has 14,000. It had 102,000 on it in year 2000 and since 2008 has only seen 1000 additional miles. This car hasn't seen rain or snow since 1990 so there is NO rust. And the engine bay is so clean you could eat off of it!All ASC pieces are in absolutely exceptional condition. However the original OZ wheels were replaced with 15 ARE/Saleen wheels in 2008. The Falken ZX tires are new (less than 300 miles wear). Other new parts include full Prothane urethane suspension bushings, a dual chamber flow path cat-back exhaust, and a new Motorcraft battery.Included in the sale is a custom Lexan show board, a custom fit cover, a custom embroidered hood protector, a period correct radar detector, and all ownership and factory documentation. Documentation was impeccably kept. Provenance includes copies of the previous owner title and verification letters from both Sandy Block (ASC McLaren Registry) and Ford verifying the car. Of the surviving ASC McLaren EuroCoupes, here is one of the nicest, if not THE nicest. (Did I mention its been a multiple show-winner? Now that you know how special it is here are the details! Passing Lane Motors is pleased to present this very special and rare 1986 ASC McLaren. For those of you who dont know why this car is special, heres a little history: Mercury ASC McLaren conversions were produced from 1984 through 1986 using the Ford F-body (Capri and Mustang. During this time 842 total units were produced; 552 of which were convertibles, 290 of which were standard coupes, but only 47 EuroCoupes like this one. When Mercury withdrew the Capri from production in 1986, the remaining 28 of 47 units were non-factory assembled by ASC distributors. This 1986 hard top Euro Coupe (#19) was literally the LAST Mercury ASC McLaren (by VIN) assembled at the ASC facility in Livonia, MI., which is what makes this car such a rare and special piece. And, its one of only 7 EuroCoupe hard tops in the U.S. ASC McLaren registry. It has 114,000 miles on it but drives, runs, and shows like it only has 14,000. It had 102,000 on it in year 2000 and since 2008 has only seen 1000 additional miles. This car hasn't seen rain or snow since 1990 so there is NO rust. And the engine bay is so clean you could eat off of it! All ASC pieces are in absolutely exceptional condition. However the original OZ wheels were replaced with 15 ARE/Saleen wheels in 2008. The Falken ZX tires are new (less than 300 miles wear). Other new parts include full Prothane urethane suspension bushings, a dual chamber flow path cat-back exhaust, and a new Motorcraft battery. Included in the sale is a custom Lexan show board, a custom fit cover, a custom embroidered hood protector, a period correct radar detector, and all ownership and factory documentation. Documentation was impeccably kept. Provenance includes copies of the previous owner title and verification letters from both Sandy Block (ASC McLaren Registry) and Ford verifying the car. Of the surviving ASC McLaren EuroCoupes, here is one of the nicest, if not THE nicest. (Did I mention its been a multiple show-winner? Now that you know how special it is here are the details!
