Vehicle Detail

At auction is our beautiful 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster, with 60,831 original miles. I have been collecting British and German sports cars as a hobby for over 40 years, and this car is one of the finest, restored examples with so many original components as it came from the factory. See my picture of the British Motor Heritage Industry Certificate on this car--everything matches the Certificate. If you bid on this car, I hope you've read Original MGA by Anders Ditlev Clausager. A copy is included in the sale, plus my extensive library on MGA's. I also have a photo documented series of pictures of the restoration. While it is an older restoration, the car has held up remarkably well. The only major thing I have done to the car is added a completely stainless steel exhaust system from the headers back, and this is a product built to original specifications. The paint is good, with minor chips around the bonnet opening and boot opening, consistent with opening and closing over the years. The paint and chrome have luster, and are consistent with a restoration done years ago with car always garaged. Take a look inside the boot. The manner in which the spare tire penetrates the bulkhead was a new feature for the 1600 roadster, and the spare tire cover in this condition are extremely rare. The car has a tool roll, original jack and handle, and original hand crank still clipped to the bulkhead. The engine and bay are near spotless. Weather gear includes soft top, tonneau, and side curtains in excellent condition. The radio is a British Motor Corportation original. Note small examples of what really makes an MGA as original, like the left front wing mirror only being offered from the factory if your left hand drive car is equipped with a luggage rack. I have downsized my collection from over 25 cars to just five collector cars, and most of my cars sell by word of mouth. I simply try to collect blue chip quality cars, and enjoy the great history and performance of these cars built entirely for having fun. This Iris Blue MGA is a good example. It was purchased in England by an Army doctor on duty, and shipped to the Salt Lake City area (excellent, high desert climate for collector cars) until I bought the car about 10 years ago. We live at 4000 feet elevation on the Big Island of Hawaii, and my collector car garage is insulated to R19. My cars are all excellent examples in good condition. My Reserve is reasonable for this very nice MGA. If you bid, please understand you are entering a contract to buy if you trip my Reserve. This car is being sold "as is, where is" with no warranties expressed or implied. I encourage inspections prior to bidding, and will be available on an appointment basis for inspections this week. I also encourage you to write me with your questions. Most of my cars sell prior to the end of my advertisements, so please also feel free to call me at 808-342-1036. I will deliver the car to the Port of Hilo, Hawaii, in a covered trailer, and personally tender the car for you to the West Coast of the USA. International bidders should contact me early in the auction, as the vehicle will need to be inspected and containerized prior to shipping to international destinations. Your cost of shipping this car from Hilo, Hawaii, to San Diego, California is $902, see www.pashahawaii.com. For other West Coast destinations, such as Oakland, California, or Tacoma, Washington, the cost is $1072 in a sealed container, see www.horizonlines.com. I require my cars to paid for by Bank Wire Transfer, and I will send you my wire transfer instructions when the car is purchased. I will also help you in making ocean shipping arrangements, as well as any transport truck arrangements you may require. Thank you for looking and reading about this car. You will be buying a great example of an MGA. Robert P. Smith, Hobby Collector, Volcano, Hawaii
