Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV -3 owner vehicle. It is with great sadness that I offer up my Alfa. I have owned the car for the past 3 years and really enjoyed it, but due to life circumstances must now pass it on. The car was originally purchased in NYC and used for about 10 years. At that time the car was put into storage at the original owner’s summer home in Greenwich Ct. until 2001. The previous owner (a friend of the original owner) saw it under wraps and asked to purchase the car. Over the next several years he made some tasteful upgrades to make it a more driver friendly vehicle. These include: True HID light system RML Electronic ignition Magnaflow Stainless Steel exhaust Centerline suspension New water pump Wes Ingram camshaft Stainless Steel Brake lines and new calipers Steering box was reinforced (nothing was wrong but to keep it in excellent condition) Koni shocks In addition is has period correct MOMO VEGA wheels (spare is a Cromadora) with Michelin Harmony Tires. Car has approximately 41,000 miles on the speedometer, which I believe are correct as the original plastic wrapping was on the seats underneath when I decided to have them redone in 2010. The new seat covers are from Alfaholics in the UK and match quite perfectly the originals. The second owner did have some scratches on the passenger side door and rear panel repainted, but mostly the paint seems to be original throughout. Car has always been garaged and not driven in bad weather. There is one small crack in the dash on the passenger side vent, between the windscreen and the vent. All lights, fans, and gauges work, as they should include the interior courtesy lights. As you can see the original airbox has been replaced in the engine but the original comes with the car, as well as an additional front bumper and some other various parts….handbrake covering, SPICA filter, repair manuals and the original owners booklet. This car handles awesomely, and sounds amazing….it is not a garage queen but a really wonderful car to drive and be proud of…handles speeds up to 90+MPH quite well. The gears are all fine and moving through them up or down is no problem. I have owned several Alfa’s including a Jr. and 1750, this one is the fastest and most responsive of the 4 I have had the pleasure to own. This car has wonderful patina and I think the pictures speak for themselves…a truly special unmolested automobile. I have all records from the second owner until present. I may have forgotten some things so feel free to ask. I am away for the next week but will answer what I can and can provide more specifics once I return with the papers in front of me. Letter from Alfa Storico to previous owner: “Dear Sir, With reference to your request we are informing you as follows. According to our documentation files the chassis number AR 3024284 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce (Usa edition) manufactured on the 24th June 1974 and sold on the 28th June 1974 to Alfa Romeo from Englewood Cliffs, Usa. The body colour is metallic light grey. Yours Sincerely, Archivio Storico Alfa Romeo Centro di Documentazione Elvira Ruocco” Please note the car is also available for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it is sold locally. I require a $500 deposit form the winning bidder within 24 hours of the auction ending, and full payment for the balance within 7 days. . On May-15-12 at 01:56:42 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer a few questions; the rear defrost does work on the car tires in the picture were from an older picture, and as I stated the car now has a new set of Michelin tires the car is registered in Ct. however it resides now in western Mass. Thank you On May-19-12 at 11:10:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello, to answer some further questions: Car does not burn any oil. Top end was redone by previous owner, I believe in 2005 (it is in the documentation) All pictures were done in April 2012 (with the exception of the MOMO wheel pic, this is from PO.) The car does not leak oil, though occasionally there are some drops as it is an Alfa. Rear passenger side window has had the 3 rubber blocks replaced.
