Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE. You bid, you buy! I am re-listing this beautiful “double seven” Bonneville Landau Brougham as the previous winner failed to get a quote to transport from CA to NY before bidding - and left me having to relist it. So, I am starting all over with a no reserve price of $2687. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE review the transport costs before you bid – I am not providing the delivery. I learned from a fellow eBayer that this Bonneville has the 403 engine. In 1977 GM installed Oldsmobile engines in various downsized flagship models of various car lines and at the time was quite controversial. This 1977 Bonneville is one of the headliners back then that lead to several lawsuits of Chevrolet, Buick and Pontiac owners that were upset that their cars had other GM division engines in them. The standard engine for Bonneville was Pontiac's new 301 cubic-inch V8 rated at 135 horsepower and optional engines included a 170-horsepower 350 or 180-horsepower 400 cubic-inch V8. A 185-horsepower Oldsmobile 403 cubic inch V8 was also an option, which is what this car has and is very rare. Following this debacle, all other GM divisions quickly stopped associating engines with particular name brand divisions, and to this day all GM engines are produced by "GM Powertrain" (GMPT) and are called GM "Corporate" engines instead of GM "Division" engines. Bonneville would continue its flagship duties on the downsized big car line that was introduced for 1977. The downsized Bonnevilles were 14 inches shorter in length, over four inches narrower and 800 pounds lighter compared to their 1976 counterparts but had increased headroom, rear seat legroom and trunk space with much-improved fuel economy – a major selling point. This Bonneville is stock original down to the paint, fender-skirts and landau vinyl top. It is extremely clean and drives 100x better than it looks. There is minor damage to the front driver side fender where it apprears to have scraped a post and a door ding near the key lock on the driver door. Other than that, the body is perfect and no rust in any of the fender panels, nor beneath the hood or trunk. The chrome is not blistered and shows very bright. This is a southern California car. I rec’d the pink-slip from the second owner that purchased the car in 1979. CA no longer has pink slips and use the tradition title form! The car also has the original blue plates. This car averages less than 3K miles per year. It is a non-smoker vehicle. Interior is all original. Carpet is very nice and velour shows typical wear of a car with 100K miles. Headliner is also excellent. The AMFM radio sounds good. The car runs excellent and seems to be very economical for its girth and engine size. As you see in one of the pictures I am not afraid to drive it in heavy traffic. It is a very dependable smooth ride. I own a late model Cadillac and this car exceeds the drive and ride of my Cadillac. There are no oil leaks or body sag. Both the hood and trunk open gracefully. No nameplates or moldings are missing. Hood ornament stands proud and shines like new. Glass is excellent and not pitted. This is the most expensive model offered, the Brougham Landau. The Brougham included a higher upgraded velour interior, wider moldings around the windows, lower bodyside pinstripes and trunk carpeting. This car was fully loaded for its time, including power windows, power door locks, power trunk release and power driver’s seat. It has the split bench seat. All power accessories work. Power windows are fast and do not hesitate nor drag. The power locks “pop” like the car was new. It does not have the optional 8-track, nor a sun roof. It does have the optional landau padded roof that is in great condition, fender skirts and the five-star Pontiac “traditional” styled wheels and trim rings. The alternator, battery and AC compressor look to be near new, however, the AC compressor does not have a belt and I cannot guarantee that the air works. It has the old R12 system. I do have the AMFM-8track I found out of a 1979 Bonneville that I will throw in the trunk if you want to install it. Not sure it works. I purchased the car a month ago with hopes to restore to showroom perfection with little effort as the car is in great condition. The gold glamour paint shows as good as new. The tires are near new. The car DRIVES like new. With a few hundred dollars this car will be immaculate. Because of a work layoff, I reluctantly have to put this car up for sale. The car was recently smogged passed better than most new cars according to the smog technician. The title is clean, not salvage. The registration is current and expires in June 2013. I paid the extra year registration fee because I had no intensions of selling this car. If you are a California buyer, you will only need to be concerned with sales tax and title transfer fees. Registration is paid for the next year. Because the winning bidder failed to pay the deposit within the 48-hour time frame and could not make further arrangements, it is my right within the rules of eBay to relist this car after non-payment and resolution after of close of previous auction closing 05-03-12. Please be advised, that the minute you make a bid you are in a legal contract according to the rules and regulations of eBay. Failure to comply is a breach of contract. PLEASE RESEARCH TRANPORTER FEES OR MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ARRANGEMENTS TO PICK UP THE CAR. NADA old car guide values this car between $2687 and $7530. (Which has increased $400 in value since it was listed in April.) This car is appreciating in value while you are reading this. This car is far, far above average condition! GOOD LUCK!
