Vehicle Detail
1975 AMC Pacer D/L If you're a Pacer fan, you may just recognize this car -- winner of Hagerty Insurance's "Search for America's Sweetest Lemon!" In a nationwide (and worldwide, as it turns out) vote, this 1975 Pacer D/L was voted the winning car out of hundreds of entrants and ten finalists. In fact, this car was SO popular in the contest, it received 93% (nearly 17,000) of all votes cast! As the winning car, it was transported from Georgia all the way to Monterey, California during car week in August and was the featured car at the celebrated "Concours d'Lemons" in Seaside and led the "Tour d'Lemons" the night before to Pebble Beach and down 17 Mile Drive to Carmel! As a result of it's celebrity status, it was subsequently featured in the online versions of "Classic & Sports Car," "Car & Driver," and "AutoWeek" magazines and was on "Hagerty Classic Car TV." It has appeared in "Hagerty Magazine," the current "Hemmings Motor News," three North Georgia newspapers and will be in the upcoming May 15th edition of "American Way" (the in-flight magazine from American Airlines! There are pictures and stories of this car all over the place! Ever watch "Chasing Classic Cars" with Wayne Carini? Here he is, posing with the Pacer at the Concours! The Pacer went on to win other awards shortly after returning from California, including the coveted "Golden Hook Award" at the Southeast Regional AMO event, and is now ready for a new home! Details: 1975 AMC Pacer D/L, 99K original miles, 258 I6 engine, original Georgia car, virtually rust-free, save for some bubbling down low and some minor rust-through spots in the rear valance behind the bumper. One repaint 18 years ago in its original color, Aztec Copper...still very original with a great patina. Has power front disc brakes, auto trans, AC (yes, it works -- when it feels like it,) bucket seats, 8-track stereo (yep, it works too,) rear defroster, roof rack, delay wipers, rally wheels, etc. Paint is old, has some fading and peeling, but still looks great for its age (see pics.) All glass in good shape, bumpers crazed but straight and still have some shine, no dents anywhere. Interior still in the factory Navajo basketry fabric. Rear seat nearly perfect, passenger seat faded a bit but still presentable, driver's seat worn and covered (see pics.) Dash not cracked. Carpet looks nice. The Pacer runs and drives well and was routinely maintained by the original owner of 36 years. Stacks of receipts for everything (new brakes, new carburetor, engine rebuild, etc.) and the original owner's manual and warranty information and a factory 1975 AMC Service Manual are all included. The car is registered as an antique in the state of Georgia, is insured through Hagerty Classic Insurance and I have a clear Georgia title in hand (another rarity -- Georgia does not require titles for cars older than 25 years!) Be sure to look over all the pictures and check out two videos of the car driving down the road at the links here: VIDEO 1 VIDEO 2 There are lots more pictures and some other fun stuff on the car's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sweetestlemon2011 More information follows the pictures below! The car is located about an hour north of the Atlanta airport. I can help with shipping anywhere. Please email me with any questions through the eBay messaging system and thanks for looking! On Apr-23-12 at 07:51:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are a few pictures from car week in Monterey this past August: On the show field at the 2011 Concours d'Lemons: Leading the Tour d'Lemons down 17 Mile Drive to Pebble Beach:
