Vehicle Detail
1970 International Scout ARISTOCRAT!!!! I had big plans for this Aristocrat but my wife and I had a son who just had his first birthday and my wife is expecting our second child in November. It goes without saying that I have no time to work on this Aristocrat. I haven't had time in the past year and I don't see any free time opening up in the next several years. It's time for it to go to a new good home. I have the original bill of sale and the ORIGINAL LINE SETTING TICKET THAT WAS GLUED IN THE INTERIOR FROM THE FACTORY! SEE PICS! I also purchased a copy of the Line Setting Ticket from Super Scouts to see the full form. It is also included in the sale. This Scout has the AMC 232 I6 engine and Borg Warner automatic transmission with 31010 original miles. I purchased it with 30152 miles. The engine runs great and the transmission shifts smoothly. I have done a complete tune-up: points, cap, rotor, coil, spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter both in the fuel pump and the additional inline filter that was added at some point in its life. The starter solenoid has been replaced. I also rebuilt the carburetor and set the timing. Pump the gas pedal two times and it starts right up. I also replaced the thermostat, radiator hoses and heater hoses when I changed the antifreeze. It is driveable but the reverse lights don't work because the neutral safety switch has been disconnected/bypassed. I used to drive it a lot but the front axle pivot ball seal has gone bad on the passenger side and some oil is leaking from it so I've let it sit. The brake hoses were dry rotted so I replaced them. I cleaned all the brake parts down with brake parts cleaner, bled them and they work great with no pulls. The parking brake even works! The Aristocrat had air conditioning on it at some point. The compressor is there with a belt attached so adding the rest of an A/C system is easy at that point. Figuring out how to mount a compressor on a vehicle that never came with A/C is hard to do. The hard work here is already done. The body is in great shape for a restoration. I have posted pics of the common areas to go bad on the 800s. You will see that all the X-braces are in tact, the floor boards and bed floor are in great shape with the exception of one hole on the drivers side. The original spare tire carrier is on it as well as all the parts of the Aristocrat roof rack and sliding side windows. Both Aristocrat fender emblems are present. The interior is worn. The carpet is gone, the rear seat is torn up a bit and the door panels have seen better days. If it weren't for the leaking front axle seal and the one tire that likes to go flat in a week's time, I'd say you could drive it anywhere. One interesting item about the frame is that it has both the six cylinder and 8 cylinder mounts welded on the frame from the factory. It would be very easy to drop a 304 or 345 in this Scout but that would be a shame with all the original documentation I have for this Aristocrat! I have included a picture showing the mounts. I have dealt with several shipping companies in the past and could refer a few to you to get a price. A good ballpark figure is around $800.00 to ship a vehicle depending on how far it needs to go. I've paid as little as $500 to ship a vehicle in the past but that was when diesel was at $3.00. This Scout is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. If you have any additional questions or would like more pictures just let me know. I am only able to upload 24 pictures to eBay and I have plenty more, please contact me at bhetrick7391@yahoo.com
