Vehicle Detail
This vehicle was purchased as a rust free daily driver at auction in California. Prior to being driven back to Indiana for restoration it was inspected at a local VW house for potential mechanical problems. The mechanics reported no problems and that it would be safe to drive it across country. They commented that it appeared that the engine had been recently rebuilt but having been purchased at auction there was no paperwork to verify this. I drove it back to Indiana without incident and then spent the next year or so restoring it. Since restoration starting in 2005 I have put very few miles on the bus (about 5000) using it only for occasional light hauling around the house - for items that wouldn't fit in a car easily: large TV, furniture, lawn equipment etc. Other than a tuneup and oil changes no mechanical work has been necessary. Engine, brakes, transmission-transaxle, suspension, and steering are all in excellent shape. All lights, gauges, speedometer, and odometer are working. As a precaution new velocity joints were installed prior to leaving California. EXTERIOR WORK COMPLETED: Repainted with original VW Sage Green, paint code L63H/P4. New bumpers. New exterior mirrors, All new widow and door gaskets, seals, and wipers. All body rubber, seals, or gaskets were replaced. New luggage rack and poptop seals. New engine compartment seals. New headlight bulb holders, lenses, and trim. New side marker lights. New turn signal lenses and bulb holders. New tail light lenses and bulb holders. New front spare tire rack and new spare tire cover. Five new Hankook 185R14 truck tires. New VW Logo baby moon hub caps. New tire beauty rings. INTERIOR RESTORATION WORK: New roof liner. New door panels and new bodyside panels by Sew-Fine. New rear hatch panel. New front kick panel. Sound deadening material was installed behind all panels. Entire floor pan was cleaned, acid etched, and had Herculiner bed liner installed. Next 1/2" and 3/4" sound deadening insulation was installed over the Herculiner. Then heavy duty diamond check rubber matting was installed. New rear hatch hinge covers. New coat hooks and suicide straps. New window knobs and door cranks. New rear view mirror. New sun shades. New retractable seatbelt/shoulder harness. New Vanagon style front seats with arm rests in the original Westfalia green plaid. Note: These seats each cost $995.00 plus freight. Leather steering wheel cover and shifter knob. Shifter extension added. As is obvious in the pictures the Westfalia camping interior is not installed. I do have these items and will ship with the bus if the new owner wants them. Please note in this model Westfalia Bus there was no propane system, stove, or refrigerator. Just a sink, Z-bed, overhead bunk, and storage cabinets. The spare tire was stored in the sink cabinet. The cabinets are in rough shape and the Z-bed and bunk bed plaid fabric is sun faded. The pop top tent fabric is not installed and would have to replaced if you wanted to use the bus as a camper
