Here is your chance to get a rare VW diesel. With gas prices on the rise, this car is the answer!! It is a 1990 Cabriolet with 160k original miles and runs great. As far as I can tell it is the original paint and has NO RUST anywhere! It has a 1.6 N/A diesel engine and a 5 speed transmission and drives nice and straight down the road. It has a Panasonic stereo CD player with detachable face and you can hook up your IPOD or MP3 player with ease and listen to your own tunes. This car is an absolute blast to drive with the top down along with getting great fuel mileage. This car is one that will work great with vegetable oil which would allow you to drive for almost nothing. I have not run any other fuel than diesel fuel. I'm selling the car now because I used it to commute to work which was 65 miles one way and now I have switched jobs and only have to drive a mile and a half. As with all diesels it has a starting proceedure that I will tell you how it works best for me. There is a cold weather knob mounted below the dash by your right knee. Pull this out and hold glow plug switch for ten seconds, turn on fuel pump switch and then start the engine. It will smoke like all diesels for a few seconds. After a couple of minutes of running, push the cold weather knob back in. This knob advances the injection pump timing 2.5 degrees. Now keep in mind that being 22 years old and original paint, it does have normal wear and tear like scratches and nicks in the body, but is in exceptional survivor condition. There are a couple of issues this car has. The blinkers do not work, it may be a relay, but I'm not sure. The flashers work fine which use the same lights... The tach is not working either which would work with a new sensor installed. The hood is not perfectly flat, does have a slight bend in it but is not too noticeable. It also has aftermarket headlight switch on the dash. I want to be honest so that you will be happy with this car when you get it. It is being sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It comes with a clean title in my name and will have no problems getting transferred into yours. This VW came from west river South Dakota where most of the cars are rust free because they don't use salt on the roads out there like they do in big cities.
