Vehicle Detail
You are viewing a nice example of a 1978 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Sport Sedan. Ultimate daily driver fitted with the original 2 Liter "Spica" injected engine. Vin # AR 116580001301. Manufacture date is 2/78. Has 119,871 original miles. Very rare "Bleu Olandese" exterior (dark blue) with light gray cloth interior. The Alfetta is fitted with a very rare European Grill and Headlamps. Low reserve! Documents show that the Alfetta was originally from California and eventually made it's way to Chicago. Once in Chicago, it was owned by one of the top Alfa mechanics at a well known Alfa shop. Needless to say, all maintenance and repair was done properly while under his ownership. At some point the Alfa was repainted in its original factory color, and then parked in the back of the shop. The Alfa sat for several years untouched when an Alfa enthusiast came into the shop looking for an Alfa. The Alfetta was then sold, and the new owner proceeded to put the trim back on the car, install new door seals, marker lights etc. The Alfa was then brought to Besic Motors in Chicago to have the following work done: Brakes & rotors, brake lines, brake booster, fuel pump & filters. Complete tuneup. The front end was lowered slightly and fitted with "Shankle" lowering springs in the rear. The new owner drove it for a bit on weekends, and ultimately sold it because it was rarely used. The body is good original condition with no evidence of body damage. As previously stated, the body was repainted in it's original "Bleu Olandese" color. All trim & bumpers were removed prior to painting. The panel fit is nice, and there are no dents or body damage as shown in the pictures. Body rust consists primarily in the rear wheel arches as shown in the pictures. The inner fenders are in very good condition and do not have the typical rust issues that most Alfetta's seem to have. Both front and rear bumpers are in excellent condition. All lenses in nice condition. Fitted with European Grill and Headlights. Mechanically the Alfetta is in excellent condition. The engine runs strong and always starts right up. Compression test shows a very strong 185-180-170-180. Transmission is in excellent shape including 2nd gear syncro. Most recently the following work has been done: Clutch, flex joints, cv boots, inner tie rods, water pump, radiator resealed, all new coolant hoses, fresh oil change & coolant. Fitted with a set a factory Campagnolo wheels including the spare. Tires are a matched set with plenty of tread. Fuel injection has just been professionally set up. The interior has been well preserved as shown in the pictures. The dash is in nice condition with one small crack near the glove box door. Seats are all original cloth which have held up well considering it's 34 years old. There is some separating in the seams and a few tears in the rear seat. Carpet and door panels are in very nice original condition and shows that the Alfa has always been well cared for. Has custom carpet floor mats matched to the interior. The door panels have speaker grills, but no speakers. There is also no radio. Fitted with a beautiful wood steering wheel. Known issues: Heat works fine, but fan stop working recently. Passenger window regulator needs to be replaced - a used one comes with the sale. Rear wheel arch rust. Button for the emergency brake handle needs to be fixed. There is no lock cylinder for the trunk release. As stated, the Alfa has been well maintained over the years, however it has seen very little use. It would make a great daily driver for the Alfa enthusiast that would like to drive an Alfa every day! Please keep in mind that the Alfa is 34 years old and far from perfect. It's a well preserved example of quite a rare Alfa sedan. A great alternative to a Giulia Super or Berlina for a lot less money. I have done my best to describe the Alfa to the best of my ability, but may have missed something. Ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. The Alfa is sold in "as is" condition with no warranty. The Alfa comes with a clear Michigan title. On Apr-27-12 at 20:23:56 PDT, seller added the following information: On May-01-12 at 20:31:39 PDT, seller added the following information: The major work that has been performed on the Alfa was done within the last year, and the Alfa has only been driven approximately 500 miles. This includes 4 invoices that total over $4000.00. The first invoice is for the Flex Joints, CV boots, Inner tie rods, Wheel bearings repacked, Adjust rear brakes, Replace brake switch & Oil Change. This invoice was for $1463.00 (119,340 miles). The 2nd invoice is for the Clutch replacement. This invoice was for $1325.00 (119,428 miles). The 3rd invoice is for the Water pump replacement, Radiator hoses replaced, Front crank seal replacement and the injection pump resealed. This invoice was for $850.00 (119,633 miles). The last invoice (most recent) was for the Radiator re core & new coolant. This invoice was for $532.00 (119,675 miles). I forgot to mention that while the Alfa was in storage at the Alfa shop, the roof got scratched near the driver's side door - it loks like something may have been stored on top of the car. It had been touched up quite awhile ago, but I did want to mention it. Also, there are a few bubbles on the wipe cowl panel. Not very noticeable but worth mentioning. Too small to show up in the pictures. The Alfetta is a turn key example that is ready to be driven and enjoyed everyday. The glass in good shape including the windshield which does not have any chips or cracks. Since Alfetta's are quite rare, this Alfa represents a great opportunity for an Alfa enthusiast to get a well sorted Alfa Sedan for a very reasonable investment.
