We live in sunny San Diego.I bought this car for my wifes birthday exactly 8 years ago. We had the car repainted and still looks great today. The owner of Hawley Auto body specializes in antique's said this was one of the better built replicas he's seen. Shops been there since 1949. I have all the records of service/parts etc from the same VW specialist Wolfs Automotive. Over the years the car has been bumped a few times in parking lots and paint touched up by Symbolic Motors. High end pros. Please google/yelp these places for quality workmanship. I want this transaction to be as smooth as when I bought it off Ebay so I want to be clear and disclose everything so there are no suprises. This is her daily driver and runs great. The mileage is high because the mag wheels are smaller than the speedometer is set for. So when the speedometer says 85mph you are really going 60-65mph. Therefore showing more miles on the obdometer than really are. Our mechanic says he can fix that for a couple hundred $ but my wife never felt in necessary. Mechanic believes engine is 1835cc instead of the 1600cc.Dual carbs, crome dual exhaust. Has a great "growl" and is quite peppy. Typical VW and leaks a little oil. Mechanic says its a seal where the engine meets tranny. Never had to take engine out so the $20 seal remains.The leak is small. We change the oil a few times a year and have never had to top it up. Vinyl interior. Seats worn with a few tears. I've seen do-it-yourself kits on Ebay to redo padding and add leather to these 356 seats/doors for a $500. Again, wife never found it necessary. All gauges,clock,lights,indicators,horn,wipers work. Fake alarm light blinks when ignition is off. Newer tires. CD/radio player with good quality/loud speaker box. One of the nine buttons is detatched from the top but it works just fine. Also has the slide in windows and tonneau cover. As well as the top, she has never used these. No rust that I can see on or under. Roll bar. Nice badges. Some pitting on side mirrors/grills under front lights. Wife and car dont smoke. Some chips in front and scuffs in the paint. Pretty minor though. The car is garage parked so the paint job has held up great. This car IS a head turner. Be expected to have people smile/wave/give thumbs up to you everytime you drive it.
