Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a last car from my collection, the one I really wanted to keep. This is truly a special auto, purchased last year from an estate, where it had been asleep for 30 years! When I found the car, it was residing besides another pristine '62 220S. The owner, retired Navy officer, bought the Sedan new while stationed in Germany, and purchased the Coupe shortly after he came back home. The Sedan was a daily driver, while the Coupe was reserved for the special occasions. The owner has since passed away some 15 years ago, and the heirs have finally decided to sell the cars to make room in the garage. It took a better part of the day to retrieve the Coupe, as it was literally burried in the back of a large garage! The car is a true survivor, and is very original, too good to be restored in my opinion. My plan was to put it back to driveable condition, and keep it original as is for as long as possible. The fuel tank has been removed, cleaned and reinstalled, flexible fuel lines replaced, braking system flushed and new brake cylinders installed, clutch fluid replaced, as well as all other fluids in the car. The exhaust system is new with NOS Mercedes muffler! The car starts right up, and runs very strong. Brakes are strong, and acceleration is brisk. The car does not leak or burn any oil. Engine has excellent compression. Clutch works well, gearbox shifts smooth through the gears. All electrical equipment works as it should. The paint is very presentable. Interior is simply stunning original for a 50 year old car! The leather is still soft and supple. The car is riding on period correct white wall Michelin tires in great shape, and sports vintage Carello driving lamps. Did I mention this car is rust free! I wish we could keep it, but a move overseas forcing sale. Inspections are welcome and encouraged. The car is near downtown Seattle. I will assist with shipping logistics as needed.
