*********** NO RESERVE *******NO RESERVE ********NO RESERVE ***************** A Very Nice Unmolested Original 1988 Cougar XR7 with Blue Interior This was the best body style of the Cougar and the last year of it. Drives out nice, but is not perfect. I bought this from the original owner of 18 years. This was a lease car until 1991 and was then offered for sale and bought at the same Princeton NJ Mercury dealership by a then service technician for his wife. She did not use the car much as you can tell by the condition and miles. This cougar does run and drive, but needs a water pump as it is currently leaking a small amount of antifreeze from the pump housing. The car also has heat, but it comes and goes. I would go over the cooling system before driving this car. This car also is in need of tires as they are cracked. The car as is still drives amazing, has lots of power, everything still works including the AC and original stereo system. All the green LEDs are all still working in the stereo unit, but again the cooling system needs a once over before driving. The car has recent battery, wipers, O2 sensors, mufflers and the transmission was serviced with new fluid, filter and antifreeze lines to the transmission as when I purchased the car they were bad and leaking. I also replaced both door striker pins. They shut nice with just a tap and do not rattle while driving. The car needs a good tune up. The car has a good NJ inspection until September 2012. Please keep in mind that this car does have various scratches in the paint here and there and parking lot dings. The paint does not look showroom and is not at a high showroom gloss. To my knowledge this car also was in no accidents and has all the same VIN numbers on all parts see my pictures. The wheels are nice, but are also not showroom. The paint needs a good compound to make it nice. There is various rust spots around the rear window trim and rear passenger side rear fender and under driver door see picture. Folks this is a 24 year old car and will require some going over if you want it to be perfect. The interior and huge power moon roof is also in very nice shape for their age. Even the sunshade opens nice with the moon roof, is still in place and not flaking. This car gets a lot of attention on the road. This XR7 is not a show car or in perfect condition in any way. It would make a great car for anyone who would like to own a piece of Cougar history and loves the last year of this body style. This car is being sold in as is condition.
