THE STORY You are bidding on a two-owner 1988 Suzuki Samurai. I recently bought this vehicle, but news of a new baby niece means I need something a little more "safe" to be a responsible uncle! Whether you're looking for a dependable daily driver, or something straight and unmolested to customize, this simple and unaltered Sammy is sure to delight the new owner. This auction has NO RESERVE, so the high bidder gets to drive it home! MECHANICAL ENGINE:The previous owner meticulously rebuilt the engine less than 5,000 miles ago, including a new water pump, oil pump, timing belt & tensioner, all new seals, gaskets, bearings, rings, both motor mounts, transmission mount, clutch disk, pressure plate & bearing. Also, a new distributor cap, rotor, NGK wires & spark plugs, and EGR valve/gaskets were recently installed. The carburetor was fully rebuilt and tuned by a trusted mechanic, and it just passed the Arizona emissions test with flying colors (although if I were keeping it, I've been told I'd need a California catalytic converter to get it to pass here - see picture of CA smog results). It has a new-ish air filter and Suzuki OEM fuel filter, and gets great gas mileage – 28MPG in town and on the highway. DRIVETRAIN: All drivetrain fluids were replaced after the engine rebuild – both differentials, transmission, and transfer case. It has a smooth shifting 5-Speed transmission and easily cruises at 65 MPH. The 4-Wheel drive system is in perfect working condition, and the brakes work just fine. It could stand to have a new set of tires, though there is still some tread remaining on the current set (the spare is new). COSMETIC EXTERIOR: This is a 24 year old vehicle, so the paint has some rock chips, scratches, and dings. But overall it's only minimally faded and the clear-coat is still good – no chalkiness! Everything cleans up quite nice and it looks very good for its age. There is ABSOLUTELY NO RUST on the body or frame. The original mud guards (see picture of the window sticker) are in good shape. The windshield has a small chip which I had repaired, but no cracks. All lights, markers, wipers, and signals are good and functional. The soft top is only 1.5 years old with ZERO rips or leaks. INTERIOR: The driver seat has several tears, but the passenger seat is in decent shape. Both are covered with a new set of seat covers that are only a month old and look really nice. All dashboard lights and switches are functional. The heater works great and will keep you warm in the winter. You'll have to roll the windows down and take the top off to stay cool in the summer…of course, that's what makes these things fun in the first place. The radio is the original pull-out unit and does not work. The interior floor is very clean and straight, and again, has absolutely no rust. It's never had a backseat in it, so the bed is perfect. FINALLY Add 100K to the odometer, but bid confidently as I'm sure it'll be good for 100K more! The vehicle is being sold as-is, so please ask any questions prior to bidding. Feel free to come drive it if you're in the Hollywood area. I plan on seeing the auction through to the end, so if for any reason the high bidder fails to comply with the payment terms, I'll offer the vehicle to the next highest bidder using eBay's "Second Chance Offer". PAYMENT:A deposit of US $500.00 is due within 24 hours of auction end and is non-refundable. Full payment required within 7 days. For final payment, I will ONLY accept cash or bank check unless you are willing to cover the 2.9% PayPal fee. If paying by check, I will only release the vehicle after the check is cleared. The vehicle will stay under covered parking until you get it or ship it. I'm more than happy to work with you either way.
