Vehicle Detail
I am relisting my Bug due to the reserve not being met, THE RESERVE PRICE IS $4000. This is my 1969 VW Beetle. I do not want to sell this car, but because of some mounting medical bills due to my wife's illness, I NEED to sell this to pay those bills. This is my daily driver and I have owned it for about four years. It is a clean California car, with clear title. Runs like a top and is dependable. Always garage kept. I have owned VWs and have worked on them as a profession for about 20 years. Everything I have done on this car has been done by a professional (me). Cal look with German look wheels... best of both worlds. I rebuilt the 1600 dual port engine about 1 1/2 years ago and it has about 10000 miles on it. No issues. Dual vacuum advance distributor running electronic ignition (no points!) AND running a Flamethrower ignition coil.with Solex 30/31 carburator. Exhaust is a EMPI header with custom built muffler by Dave's Chico Muffler. When I rebuilt the engine, I installed an Engle 110 cam, and Scat lightweight lifters. All the rest is stock German. New motor mounts and throw out bearing installed with this engine installation. On to the car, the floor pan is rust free and solid... the previous owner DID do some repair work to the battery tray, but it is solid. The body, as a daily driver, does have some little dings and nicks, but it looks good. The car is straight and I have no issues with the driveability of it. Replaced the windshield a year ago and new windshield seal at the same time. While I was doing that, I upgraded the wiper linkage and motor to a late model spline type. Speaking of glass, I have one-piece windows in the doors for that cool California look! The rear window was tinted by the previous owner and I had been meaning to remove it, but never got to it. You can see how it looks in the pictures. On the functional mechanical side of the car, I replaced the complete brake system about a year ago, including new drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, hoses (front hoses are stainless steel braided lines, rear is stock rubber), new master cylinder with new metal lines. All four brake drums are dual pattern for stock 4 lug VW AND you can use 4X100 Import rims such as Honda or Toyota. Tire sizes are front: 205-40-17 and rear are 215-45-17 mounted on Focal 17X7.5" rims. Also installed a 3/4 inch heavy duty rear swaybar with urethane mounts. Front is lowered 2 1/2" using CB Performance drop spindles. As far as drivetrain, the clutch cable, clutch cable S hook on the pedal cluster, and shift bushings have all been replaced in the past year and has a SCAT DRAGFAST T-handle shifter with reverse lockout. All is great! The Bug has a VDO tachometer, VDO oil pressure gauge and VDO cylinder head temperature gauge. The late model 100 MPH speedometer was disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and reinstalled with a new speedometer cable about a year ago as well. The odometer reading is NOT the actual mileage on the car. The electrical portion of the ignition switch and the complete lock cylinder assembly were also installed about a year ago. New European style taillight lenses were installed less than 6 months ago. Interior carpet is good, gray velour headliner and seats are in great shape, but the drivers side seat has a tear, as pictured. I still have to put door panels back in, I did not have them ready at the time I took the pictures. Stereo head unit is a Sony, I put it in about 2 months ago. Comes with a wireless remote!! It has plug ins for USB, and front/rear aux ports. Six speakers with crossovers, rear speakers are Kenwood 6X9 3 ways, powered by a small amp under the rear seat and sound great. It has an Orbital brand sealed lead acid AGM battery... Heavy Duty stuff. With this I installed new heavy duty braided battery cables. When it sells, I will be changing the oil for you and do a valve adjustment as well, so you can drive it off with confidence! Again, I need to sell this VW due to mounting medical bills. It runs perfectly and I can drive it anywhere. I want this car to go to a good home and you can drive it as is or it is a really good car to make into a show car. Please see pictures for more details. I have this for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the listing if it sells. Please ask questions. Once it sells, I need it to be paid for and picked up within a week. For buyers out of the country I will allow 2 weeks. A $500 deposit is required when you are the winning bidder through PayPal. Balance is to be paid with cash upon pick up or if you are having it shipped, Paypal is preferred, due to increasing fraud with checks and cashier's checks. No tire kickers, no non-paying buyers, please. Bill of Sale will read the actual amount you are paying for the car. Please do not ask me to put a lower amount on it that is illegal. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PICK UP AND SHIPPING FEES AND ISSUES WHETHER IN THE US OR OVERSEAS!!! On Mar-20-12 at 19:45:02 PDT, seller added the following information:
