Vehicle Detail
You are looking at an ORIGINAL S-code 390-4V Big Block 1969 Ford Torino GT Sportsroof. This is a pretty much unmolested, low mile, great running and driving original paint survivor car that needs a fairly simple cosmetic restoration. It is a well equipped example in a great color combination that makes this car a worthy candidate for a very straight forward restoration. Big Block 1969 Torino's with the type of equipment list that this one has do not come along very often and when you do find one all of the neat optional equipment has typically already been robbed off of it and the car has been beaten to death! Not so with this car and that is just one of the things that makes a car like this such a RARE find today! This 1969 Ford Torino GT Sportsroof is an ORIGINAL Black Jade on Black S-code 390-4V car with a factory rating of 320hp and 427 ft/lbs of torque. This car was also originally equipped with a Close Ratio 4-speed Toploader 4-speed Transmission and connected to a bullet proof 9 inch 3.25 geared Traction-Lok rear end. This car is well equipped and documented as such per the Marti Report and it’s original Ford Assembly Line Build sheet. This 1969 Torino GT was ordered in the Indianapolis, IN Sales District (DSO 46) when new and was a transplant to DRY Montana, then Idaho until I found it earlier this year. It was a retail customer order that was sold NEW at Bob Alter Ford in Muncie, IN with the following equipment: S-code 390-4V engine, 6-code Close Ratio Toploader 4-speed Transmission, and an R-code 3.25 Traction-Lok rear end as the drivetrain options. This RARE Torino GT was further equipped with these other factory optional/featured items to include: Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Tinted Glass, Argent Styled Steel Wheels with FR70x14 WSW Tires, Deluxe 2-spoke Steering Wheel, AM-FM Stereo Radio, Tachometer and Visibility Group. The door tag info is as follows and as listed on the Deluxe Marti Report BODY 63F = Torino GT 2 door Sportsroof Color C = Black Jade Paint Trim 6A = Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior Date 05M = December 5, 1968 Scheduled Build Date DSO 46 = Indianapolis, IN ordering district Axle R = 3.25 Traction-Lok Axle with 9 inch ring gear Trans 6 = Close Ratio Toploader 4-speed Manual Transmission This is an incredibly original and for the most part unmolested Big Block 4-speed Torino GT!! These cars were almost always ragged out at the Drag Strip by somebody with an inherent need for speed!! This car is a what I believe to be a 66K 3 owner car with the original’s owner’s log book showing mileage and dates for each gasoline fill up and routine services. This car still has it’s ORIGINAL PAINT and INTERIOR with the exception of the carpet. There is some rust in this car; but by comparison to other’s that originated from this region it is relatively minor. As you can see in the pics the car will need rust repair in the lower ¼’s and lower front fenders. The doors are nice as is the hood. The decklid is very good but not perfect as it has some minor scale under the lip. The front floors do have some rust, but it is relatively minor (see pics) driver’s front floor has some rust at the Toe Board and the passenger side has some minor pin holing there as well on the seat riser. Rear Floors are NICE and overall this car is VERY SOLID underneath!! There is a small amount of rust in the tail panel inside the trunk as well. Being the car is still in it’s ORIGINAL PAINT there will not be any surprises under old bodywork and a repaint paint. What you see is what you get! The car has always been well stored and maintained by caring owner’s and it shows in the car’s condition! It has been in dry inside storage for many years. It has been well kept mechanically while in storage to ensure the car’s mechanical workings did not deteriorate while stored. The 390-4V engine runs strong and smooth with no knocks, ticks, or other funny nosies. It fires right up and idles even on the coldest days! It is completely stock with the only modification being a period Crane Electronic Ignition from back in the day. The clutch is very good in the car; though it will chatter just a touch on occasion. It grabs smoothly and firmly with no slippage whatsoever! The Toploader 4-speed Transmission shifts smoothly and precisely!! It has had a Shifter Upgrade done way back in it’s life from the original Ford Unit to a period Hurst Competition Plus shifter and after having driven many original Ford Musclecars over the years with Ford Shifters I can tell you the Hurst Box is a welcome upgrade!! The 3.25 Traction-Lok 9 inch Rear end in the car performs flawlessly and will lay down 2 leggers as long as you hold the throttle open!! The car’s Power Steering is smooth and precise with out the usual slop these cars can get with a lot of rough road miles on them. The Power Disc Brakes stop the car as they should with no pulling or fading. The suspension is still in very good condition and really makes for a nice riding car; unlike most other 40+ year old unrestored cars you find out there. The wipers, horn, heater and blower work as they should, the lights and turn signals all work and blink as they should…even in the hood scoop!! The AM-FM Stereo still works and the FM Jewel light illuminates in Stereo!! The fact that this was not a modified Hot Rod and run to death by a bunch of 16 year old’s is evident in how this car has survived for going on nearly a 1/2 century. Where most of these cars were ragged out, modified, and usually wrapped around a telephone pole within 5 years of being sold new; this Big Block 4-speed Torino GT has withstood the test of time. There are no headers, no aluminum intakes, cut up dash’s with aftermarket radio’s, door panels and package trays with speaker holes……Just a clean original unmolested car. This is a very nice unrestored and mostly unmodified S-code 390-4V 4-speed Torino GT that is optioned well with a very desirable color combination. You can drive this car just as it sits with no issue and have your own ‘barn find’ survivor at the cruise in; or give this car the easy cosmetic make over that it deserves and have an awesome looking Big Inch 4-gear Musclecar to show and shine!! It would be an absolutely gorgeous car when finished in a fresh coat of Black Jade with the Gold C-Stripes reapplied to it. With a very impressive equipment list such as this it is sure to be quite the head turner and conversation piece! I have too many projects and need to thin out the herd some. This Torino really needs to be in the hands of someone who can get to work on it and give it the cosmetic restoration it deserves. I will be auctioning some of my other Ford and Mercury Musclecars soon so that I can focus on some of my stalled/backlogged restorations. So please watch for my other auctions!! I do have this S-code 390-4V 4-speed 1969 Torino GT listed elsewhere and as such reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Torino GT's described condition and its sale. I expect a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of auctions end and the balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1969 Torino GT is a 40+ year old unrestored car and as such is being auctioned 'as-is, where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. I have described this 1969 Ford Torino GT accurately so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully and make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!
