Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVEFuzzy Dice Autos Has up for auction an extremely rare piece of American History! This is a 1941 Desoto Deluxe Business coupe in extremely nice original condition. This was an estate purchase from relatives of it's local original owner who was a hat salesman in the 40's and 50's. He purchased the car brand new at "Lee Templeton Motor Comany" in Norristown, Pennsylvania. We know this because we have the original bill of sale, the original registration and a copy of the original title. All of which goes to the auction winner.Only 4,449 Desoto Deluxe Business Coupes were produced in 1941. They were primarily purchased by over the road salesman who carried their goods in their car. The business coupe had no rear seating compartment. Instead it has a very spacious trunk that was used to carry whatever line of goods they sold. The trunk measured 47 cubic feet. This particular business coupe was even more rare because it featured no rear side windows. The vehicle is powered by it's original 228 cu inch flathead six number's matching motor and the original "Fluid Drive" transmission. The horse power output was 105 with a single barrell carb. The fluid drive feature made driving less demanding then the standard manual transmission. The clutch was only needed to shift the transmission into first and second. The automatic feature then took over. The body, floors and under carriage are in amazing condition. There was an older re-paint and several minor areas of touch up. The is a minor small area where slight bubbling is evident along the right lower front fender. Not severe enough to repair at this time. All in all the paint shines nicely. The chrome bumpers appear to be newer and are in excellent condition. The hood ornament, door panels and rear trunk placard are original and naturally pitted. wheels and hubcaps are original and show off the original copies of the extra wide white tires. The body of the car is of it's original steel construction. No fiber glass or after market panels anywhere. The interior is excellent. The seat covers, door panels, headliner and floor are in amazing condition. The rubber floor matting is period correct but not original. All the glass is original and in very nice condition. The car features heat that works but is radio delete. The dash is completely original and does show it's share of discoloration. Nice to keep her original but with minor expense the dash and door panel armrests can be refinished.I searched everywhere to find another 1941 Desoto Business Coupe. There are none to be found. And if you were to find one it would either be a project car of one that's been totally restored and selling for many thousands of dollars. This beauty comes with all it's documentation, the original owner's manual and much more. I personally drove this amazing car and wouldn't hesitate to take her anywhere. She drives strong, quiet and stops on a dime. We anticipate much interest in this gem and are prepared to answer any and all questions for the serious buyers. So please don't hesitate to contact us with whatever questions you may have.Remember that this is a NO RESERVE auction. That means that the highest bidder when the auction ends gets to own this amazing car. So please be prepared to buy the car when you place your bid. Those of you who are firt-time ebay clients will need to contact us before placing your bid.Best of luck bidding!!
