Please welcome the stupidly fast, wickedly tempered, awkwardly named, possibly perfect little son of a benchmark - Automobile Magazine, August 2011 This is a rare 2011 BMW 1M Coupe with 17 miles on it. I bought it brand new and it has been driven from the dealer to my garage. I had plans to baby this car and keep very low miles on it since it will be worth about the same in a few years if not more. I had planned major modifications but that has caused a headache in my household and I am selling the car. DO NOT SETTLE FOR CARS WITH HUNDRED OR THOUSANDS OF MILES ON THEM. THEY HAVE MOST LIKELY BEEN PUSHED, RACED AND DRIVEN HARD AND THAT IS NOT HEALTHY FOR THESE ENGINES. SOME HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS!!!THE BREAK IN PERIOD IS VERY CRUCIAL FOR ///M ENGINES. THERE IS A 1200 MILE FIRST SERVICE REQUIRED AND UNTILL THEN, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO REV BEYOND 4500 RPM OR DRIVE FAST. THIS IS A MUST IF YOU CARE FOR THE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE AND WANT TO HAVE AN ENGINE THAT WILL BE RELIABLE. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF SOME CARS NOT GETTING THE FIRST SERVICE (1200 MILES) UNTILL AFTER 1600 OR 1800 MILES. THOSE CARS WILL NOT BE ELGIBLE TO BE CERTIFIED LATER ON PER BMW POLICY. SAME GOES WITH CARS THAT HAVE HAD ENGINE MODIFICATIONS WITH CHIPS AND TUNES. ALSO BEWARE THAT MOST OF THESE USED CARS ARE BARE BONE STICK WITH NO OPTIONS AT ALL! I DROVE THIS CAR DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALER TO MY HOME AT 40 MPH ON THE STREET. THAT'S IT! The car is brand new! It still has that new car smell! These cars were sold 1 year in advance from dealers with up to $40,000 mark up. BMW introduced the 1M Coupe in 2011 as a 1 year production only. There will be no 2012 models made! BMW once did this in 2001 with a car named Z8, to this day, 10 years later, the Z8 is selling for $100-$150K. BMW made 5700 Z8s. There is only 2700 1Ms made! Imagine what these cars will sell 5 or 10 years from now. Only 740 1M's came to United States. This car will be a true BMW Collector automobile. Be part of BMW's history. For comparison, the 6 speed E92 M3 achieves 0-60 in 4.7 and the DCT M3 will do 4.5 seconds.
