Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a garaged, original 1962 Chevy Nova II. It belongs to my old friend and neighbor, who inherited it from his mother when she stopped driving in 1986 at age 83. She bought it brand new near Montclair, New Jersey, hence the original New Jersey plate that is still on the front of the car. It is a one family car -- they are the only two owners. The car has only 37,690 original miles! It sports a straight six cylinder -- Chevy's vaunted 194ci -- mated to a two speed Powerglide automatic transmission. Even though the car has not been driven in ten years, the fluids look good, as the car was serviced very regularly before the current owner stopped driving it. Ten years ago, it ran great. Due to sitting, it cranks, but doesn't start at present. Likely the points need to be redone. The dash lights and electronics all work, and the interior is in great shape, with no rips or tears. The dashboard looks very much the same way it did in 1962 -- many elements of this car have been preserved very well. All the doors shut with conviction, open easily, and hang properly. Even the bottoms of the doors are clean! All windows go up and down smoothly and without fuss -- the glass is in great shape. There is surprisingly little rust on the car given its age, but the lower rear quarter panels will need some attention, as will a few other areas on the car that you can see from the pictures. The floors seem to be sound, the door jambs are super, as are the pinch welds under the body. There is a small rust hole in the trunk near the starboard taillight. The car wears its original paint. This is a very cool car that needs a new home. I would expect the new owner to go through and replace the usual items such as tires, brakes, etc. With a little attention, this car could be used for either daily or recreational use. In the meantime, you'll want to trailer this car. If you send a shipping company to pick it up, I am happy to meet them in the driveway when they arrive so that the car can be loaded up. As you would expect, this little Nova is sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied.
