Vehicle Detail
1997 PORSCHE 993 TARGA Beautiful black exterior with tan leather interior. 6 speed manual gear box with only 68,000 original miles. The car is in great shape and has been driven quite a lot and is very reliable. I am the 3rd owner. I purchased the car in 11/05 from a seller in Austin, Tx. The previous owner had the car for approximately 6 years. The car is mechanically sound and rust free. It just had new brake pads and rotors replaced as well as an oil change within 500 miles. The tires were replaced about 5,000 miles ago with Michelin Pilot PS2 tires. 2 keys are included with working remotes and a Porsche car cover. The option codes can be seen on the photographs. Three things have been added under my ownership. First, the headlights were replaced with Porsche OEM Litronic headlights to have Porsche's version of xenon lights. The regular lights are xenon and the brights are still halogen. The Porsche factory radio was replaced with an Alpine unit with a detachable face and single CD player and iPod connection in the glove box. No amplifiers were installed. The original radio comes with the car. Also replaced were the front fog lamps for turbo duct fog lamps which add more air to the brake area. I still have the original fog lamp assemblies that can go with the car if someone wishes to reinstall them and return it to stock. The body is in decent shape for a car that is 15 years old and gets driven on a weekly basis. The paint is original except for the rear bumper cover which was repainted in 2010. There are two small dents that existed when I purchased the car. See photographs. One is on top of the passenger rear wheel fender. It is about 1/2 inch long. The other ding is in the front right bumper cover which is a small vertical crease. There are minimal rock chips in the front of the car. A few minor dents that did not chip paint are on each door that are too hard to photograph and probably could be pushed out by a dent guy if you wanted. Also, the stick-on rock guards in front of the rear wheels are showing some hairline cracks in them due to age. I have all of the service records since I owned the car and some given to me by the previous owner. Also have all original manuals. The last required major service was at 60,000 miles as was performed by the local Porsche dealer in Austin. The targa top was adjusted at the time of the brake service and works flawlessly. All in all, this car is very clean and a great car to own. No mechanical issues known. Very few of these cars were built since the era of the air cooled porsches was coming to an end the following year.
