Vehicle Detail
This is an early Porsche 912 that still has 68,901 miles on it which is stated on the clear PA title. I do not have the Certificate of Authenticity but do have a letter from Porsche dated 4-17-1986 that states this chassis #350309 was built in July of 1965 and shipped to Holland. The Engine #740445 and Transmission #281 065-901/1 are still in the car as is the original Champagne paint #6405 and the green leatherette interior, which sports 356 style headrest. This is an extremely early car since the 912 production started in May of 1965 and is car #350309 with the 309 relating to it being the 309th 912 produced. I bought this car last September, at that time the floor and front pan had been replaced and the engine needed to be rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt using the original crank polished at standard, new main bearings were installed. The rods were reconditiond, balanced and installed with new bearings. A big bore 86mm piston and cylinder set was used and the original heads were rebuilt using new guides, valves and springs. It has a 912 cam a new aluminum styled oil cooler and the good valve cover gaskets. New gaskets were used throughout. The flywheel was reconditioned and a new throw out bearing and clutch assembly was installed. All of the engine tin was stripped and powder coated. The generator was rebuilt and the starter was inspected and serviced. A Bursh exhaust was installed. It has the proper distributor and I added a new cap, rotor, plugs and ignition wire set. The Solex P11 carbs were rebuilt by Carburator Rescue and the engine starts easily, idles and runs smoothly. I installed a new master cylinder, brake lines and hoses. The calipers, pads and rotors appear servicable and I can find no leaks. A new carpet kit was installed since the old one was gone. As stated above the floors and front pan had been welded in prior to my ownership and every thing appears solid. Doors and lids shut well for an old unrestored vehicle. The glass appears to be original and in good condition. The paint appears to be the original paint when it left the factory. There are numerous dings/dents and surface rust as shown in the photos. The interior is a similar condition and appears to be the original materials but is now 47 years old. Wood rimmed steering wheel along with an original radio and painted dash with wood trim. I installed an Optima battery. The gas tank was boiled clean and installed with a new seal and clamps. The wheels are NOT date stamped for this car and are 15 X 4 1/2 with Michelin XZX tires that are in good condition. The spare is a 5 1/2 X 15 with an older but usable Continental tire. I have included many photos to help you decide if this desirable car is right for you. I you would like to inspect the car personally please contact me with your phone number and I will make arrangements. Please email me if you would like to have something photographed that is not included. This car does move under it's own power but must be picked up with a truck or trailer. On Feb-12-12 at 03:29:13 PST, seller added the following information: This car has the optional 5 speed transmission. I have changed out the steering rack to a later style rack with turbo style tie rods. The original rack and rods go along with the car as well. The car needs a front end alignment. The only tools I have are the original Vigot Bilstien jack and a pair of pliers. The picture with the small parts are the rest of the tin for the rear of the engine and original filter canisters which are the rare large canned type and the original lap belts. This car has not been thru a Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection and is currently not driven on the road, I have only driven it back and forth in my driveway. It needs to be gone thru to be sure everything is correct and safe prior to being driven on the road (That is what I would do if I was to keep the car) The headliner is original but does have a few tears in it. The sunvisors are in good condition for their age.On Feb-12-12 at 05:54:35 PST, seller added the following information: The rubber floor mat and truck carpeting is original and in very good condition. PLEASE EMAIL ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PHOTOS OF THIS CAR.On Feb-12-12 at 05:56:42 PST, seller added the following information: The original hood badge and seal was not on the car when I took most of the photos, It is now on the car.On Feb-16-12 at 17:54:27 PST, seller added the following information: This car was a European delivered car and has the 3 large and 2 small gauge painted dash that was only available with a European delivery. I am still learning about the differences on these early 912's
