Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is a 1959 Mercedes Benz 200S. Always a California car, no rust ever! Stunning color combination cream over tan interior. The car was purchased from an original owner in 1982 by Philip Goltz, owner of the Goltz Restoration Shop in Camino, CA. During 1982-83 Philip did a complete restoration that included a comprehensive engine rebuild using only Mercedes factory parts, high quality paint in original color, all new chrome bumpers and exterior trim, complete brake system overhaul, complete new interior kit with new brown carpets, and new headliner. All wood interior trim was refinished at the same time, and all new weather seals fitted. Philip Goltz only put an estimated 2000 miles over the next 20 years of ownership. In 2002 he sold the car to an orthopedic surgeon in Chico, CA. The car acquired very few miles since. Always garaged and used for occasional weekend drives, meticulously maintained over the years, the car remains in excellent "as new" condition. Most recently over $9000 spent at a local Mercedes specialist for the following work: -fuel tank removed, restored and reinstalled, along with all new fuel lines, -carburettors rebuilt and synchronized, -new valve job, -rear suspension restored, -front suspension restored, -detailed engine compartment, -new lenses for exterior lights. Testament to a high quality restoration, the paint finish retains mirror-like gloss, the interior is in like new condition with the all-important "old Mercedes" aroma with all fittings being first rate (pictures don’t do it justice). The engine is silky smooth, and starts at a flick of a key. Clutch, 4-speed manual transmission are flawless, and the brakes are a marvel! The undercarriage was never restored and still sports an original factory undercoating in good condition. All documentation for the past 30 years is included. It details literally hundreds of items that were attended to over the years, and many thousands of dollars spent. You'd be hard pressed to find a finer Ponton anywhere. This opulent Mercedes is a beautiful car to own, pleasure to drive, and is a solid investment, "museum" quality automobile. We’d never sell it, but a move overseas in the near future forces the sale. The car is currently residing in Seattle, WA. We will help with shipping arrangements at the buyer’s expense. Thank you!
